Parthiv,Virat shines in the abandoned ODI against England
It was now time for the ODI series to begin. The first news came as a blow for the Indian Team that Sachin Tendulkar had injured his toe in the practise session and was ruled out.
Parthiv Patel was named in the playing 11 as an opening partner of Debutant Rahane. India was up with all new opening pair and was put into England to bat on.

The Indian openers began with catuion and played with great concentration. They had a slow start but eventually started up well. Parthiv and Rahane started timing the balls really well, though Parthiv was dropped on 7 he went on to be the hero for India. Rahane continued his bright form from the only 20-20 game and played a sweet little knock of 40 runs. Rahul Dravid was out for 2 runs yet again the caught behind dismissal not being in his favor and then in came RCBian Virat Kohli to give company to Parthiv Patel who was finding his magical touch with the bat back.

Parthiv Patel played a gem of knock for India as he went on to make a marvellous 95runs missing of what could have been his 1st ODI century by just 5 runs sending the ball 12 times to the fence. Virat Kohli played a watchful innings and marched his way to very useful 55 runs with 4 fours in his name. Virat Kohli's partnership with Parthiv Patel was the highlight of the innings. S.Raina came in and played few big knocks and M.S.Dhoni played a role well of a finisher making 33 runs as India ended their innings with 274 runs on the board.

England began their chase woefully as they lost both the openers to deadly balls of Praveen Kumar with just 21 runs. Trott and Bell too found it hard to face the swing and pace of Praveen and Vinay Kumar. India were looking good to earn their win but it started pouring heavily which resulted in the match being abandoned.
