Rajdeep Sardesai's Top 5 Spinners
The photo contest dedicated to Chandra coincided with Murali getting 800 and the whole world queueing up to shower accolades. Rajdeep Sardesai names his Top 5 Spinners of all time. Take a look at his tweet and "Spot the RCB ians".
I would like to assume that our very own Chandra is an RCB Fan and well wisher and hence an RCBian!!
For the Gen X, Gen Y that missed Chandra and have a "Chandra, Who's Chandra" expression in their eyes, this tweet, hopefully, is a good reinforcement!
My sister and brother-in-law spotted B S Chandrashekar at a temple in Bangalore and didn’t miss the chance to get a pic of him and with him.
My sister then promptly passed it on to me with a suggestion to find a creative way to post it on the RCB blog.
My first thought was to make a collage of photos of Bangaloreans, cricketers, fans, etc etc and ask RCB Fans on the site to “identify the cricketer”. But then there are some like me and Sandeep who can identify Chandra even in sleepy eyes! and the contest would be over in minutes! As it turned our, I ended up presenting it differently! That also explains how and why Chandra is the only cricketer amongst all the photos in the contest.
Other ideas included a crossword with photographs (instead of text) as the clue!
The scoring system I defined was partly to award those who get it right first and those who frequently visit the site and follow the contest. Some room was created for those who CAN’T get the answers but yet want to participate in the contest.
The above explains why the contest was really, really tough! At first sight, at least!
I have always felt sorry that RCB is missing a guy like @Quizzomaniac (who has even forgotten his password!). But when I saw Arvind Savur and Rod Laver as the answers for two of the pics, I realized that in Aditya Kulkarni, we do have a Quizzomanic of our own!
Hats off to Sandeep too for having recognized Sabeer Bhatia, Mark Mascarenhas – if I had been given the challenge, I wouldn’t have recognized most of the photos!
The guesses that cropped up for the former Sri Sri Vidyabhushana Swamiji of Kukke Subramanya Temple (where Sachin Tendulkar camped for 2 days to rid himself of the Sarp Dosha – the rest is history) were hilarious. The ever positive Harsha gave a crucial break by identifying the ex-swamiji when things had almost reached a dead end. I must appreciate this guy who is in the far away Shanghai and always tuned to what’s happening on the RCB website.
Thanks to the other participants - Jackky, Chintan and MallyaMyGuru - kept the buzz alive. And to many others who visited, read and wished they could participate if only it had been a bit easier!
Tables below show the final results:
