RCB sends the Dare Devils whaling
RCB won the match against DD. All the bowlers bowled well, Kohli played a special knock and in the end Captain Vettori finished it all.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore were going to take on the
Delhi Dare Devils after their magical chase of 175 against KKR. Chris Gayle had
arrived with a big hundred against KKR in the last outing and DD too were high
on confidence after their high scoring match and victory against the Kings 11 Punjab.
It was expected to be another high scoring match as both the teams consisted of
big hitters. Just as the toss happened, Delhi
chose to play in a different pitch yet again than the last game. RCB won the
toss and elected to field 1st. Vettori had added an extra bowler in
their playing 11 leaving out Asad Pathan which was a good move.
RCB bowlers on song:
Sehwag and Warner came in to bat after their bombing in the
last match, it looked as if they would do something again in this one. But RCB
had other plans for them and Zaheer khan and S.Arvind opened the bowling and
bowled with high intensity and pitched the balls in right areas to make things
difficult for the batsmen. Sehwag was cutting lose and managed 3 hits to the
fence. Warner, the man in form was struggling to put the ball away. Zaheer was
on song and he stuck right on to the stumps of Warner and got him clean bowled
for just 7 runs. Soon after Warner fell, Sehwag too came under pressure and was
run out as De Villers dislodged the bails after lovely throw from Mithun. After
that, DD was on recovery path as there was some Hopes left from James Hopes who
was promoted up the order. He could not do much with little support from other
end and scored just 54. The other DD batsmen were just visitors at the crease
with little show from Rao.
It was a heartening too see all the RCB bowlers perform and
put the DD in trouble as they managed just 160 runs on the board.
Virat Kohli’s Special:
RCB began their chase as the big hitter Gayle and Dilshan
walked on to the pitch. Unfortunately Dilshan got out early. But, from thereon
it was on RCBians on a roll. Virat Kohli arrived with spicy boundaries in his
name and he reached 25 runs in no time. Gayle on the other hand was enjoying
the Kohli’s knock, when his chance came he went bang on after Morkel and
whacked him out for a big six. Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle’s partnership was
worth a watch, both of them stayed together and took the score to 83 in just
7.3 overs scoring at fast rate. Gayle tried to go bang on yet again but this
time he was undone by Hopes delivery and fell for a quick fire 26 in just 14
The Victory was achieved:
In came AB De Villers but due to some confusion and a good
throw by Warner he fell short of the crease and perished for just 5 runs in his
name. Virat Kohli on the other hand was looking rock solid. He carted the ball
when needed and grounded it depending upon the situation. He scored a fast
half-century in just 31 balls with 8 fours and 2 six. Tiwary was keeping him
good company but Virat Kohli soon fell at 58 after taking RCB to a good
position. Pujara looked out of touch and fell for 7. It was left upto to
Captain Vettori and Tiwary to take the team to victory. Tiwary hi a bigge but
he too fell for 18 when little was needed to be made by RCB. Still Vettori
played a Captain’s knock and stayed till
the end in the company of J.Syed Mohammad who scored 2 neat boundaries and in
the end it was victory for RCB.
