RCB vs RR: A sea of red

30,000 RC flags shone brightly under the lights as Praveen Kumar and Jacques Kallis made merry and lifted RCB to second in the table by beating the Rajasthan Royals.

Crowd meter

Electric atmosphere. with every spectator having access to a flag and waving it with all their might, the ground didn't look unlike the Ataturk stadium in Istanbul, home to the football club Galatasary and reknowned for being a supremely difficult place for away teams to win in.

If I could I would..

Have RCB bat first, open with Eoin Morgan and put up 200 on the board. At the moment, he's having to be content with watching Entourage on his iPod. Of course, PK's hat-trick and the demolition job with the bowling would remain.

Fan moment of the day

As Roelof Van Der Merwe was doing the live chat in the corporate box, three adorable kids walked up to him, then turned away shyly unsure of what to do. Roelof observed and  called out to them. The biggest smile spread on their faces, they posed, and their oversized RCB jerseys just raised the bar on the 'cute' quotient.

The 'trickster

On one of his many entertaining interludes on the team bus, Praveen Kumar had revealed to us that if he was looking to build strength, he'd have a large glass of milk mixed with two spoons of desi ghee and almonds for ten days. We didn't check on him the last week, but there's a sneaking suspicion that the answer might be milk after all.

Roelof reveals

When asked about the craziest stunt he'd pulled outside of a cricket field, Van Der Merwe replied, "Bungee jumping near the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe" Christopher Poshin David, our RC Fanatic fan,  then chipped in with "John Wright didn't allow Rahul Dravid to do the same on the 2002 tour to Zimbabwe". A bungee jumping Rahul Dravid? Now that would have definitely warranted a place in Anil Kumble's 'Wide Angle'!

Grade sheet

Fantastic weather, awesome atmosphere, a hat-trick and a record breaking win to boot. A walk in the park, literally. B+

Watching a Thrilling win against Punjab XI on 1th March 2010 was a great experience. The whole statium was on fire with brilliant display by RCB. Actor Puneeth Rahkumar who joined us to cheer up the team through out was not shown on TV not even once. It's unacceptable - Achar H S V
