RCB Jersey- Your gate pass to the best Cricketing action!

Being a RCB fan helps. It can give you access to hitherto unimaginable, but fervently dreamt of places. (Request no. 1: Think straight!!!) Like the press box or the players dug out for instance. Sounds so true in case of Chiefs who travelled with the RCB squad. But what about the rest of the 24 finalists of the RCB Fanatic Fans Challenge? Weren’t they politely woken out of their dream and put back into the banality of their trivial existence???

Well, you got to be kidding mate. We, the RCB tribe, are made of sterner stuff. :-) We smell Cricket from a mile and are enterprising enough to find ourselves the best seat to enjoy the game. Wonder how? Ask kunaljanu for instance. He found himself seated next to Lalit Modi and Adam Gilchrist during the recently concluded semi finals and finals of CL T20. What about me? Well, I made my first appearance into the press box to cover the West Zone T20 game between Mumbai and Maharashtra. How did I achieve it? I walked in to the Poona Club ground wearing my RCB jersey, laptop in tow and told the Maharashtra Cricket Administration folks that I am a blogger for RCB (now it’s a different matter that I had to explain them what a “Blog” is? ;-) ).

For next three hours or so I could breathe the same air as the likes of fiery and fit Zaheer Khan, old wine Ajit Agarkar, stylish Wasim Jaffer and big hope Rohit Sharma sat at a handshake’s distance. And those are just the names we all know. But the men who really rocked the stage came from the Maharashtra stable. The young brigade led by Harshad Khadiwale literally stole the thunder under the nose of their much experienced and celebrated opponents. The way Harshad (75 off 43), Rohan Bhosale and Rohit Motwani (36) launched into the Mumbai attack was worth going miles to watch. Chasing a challenging total of 178, Mumbai lost a few wickets early on, Rohit ran himself out and then Maharashtra spinners stifled the run flow in the middle overs to script a brilliant 10 run victory. It was a classic David beats the Goliath case. The young Turks from Maharashtra play with a hitherto unseen carefree style and look set to arrive on the highest stage soon.

That win has paved the way for Maharashtra boys to play in the all India knockout stage. They will be playing at the same Poona club ground come November. So what am I going to do? Yes. Wear the smae RCB jersey, sit in the press box adjacent to the dugout and bump into some budding talent at the end of the game. You see, all it takes to get lucky is a RCB jersey. ;-P ( Request no. 2: Think straight, again! %-P )

Hey, but why don’t you get your share of luck as well? It’s easy. Go order your share of RCB merchandise now. All at the click of a button. After all we RCBians are a smartly lucky lot. Isn’t it, Kunal? Or is it Kumble? Well, whatever.

PS: Note these names down- Harshad Khadiwale, Kedar Jadhav, Rohit Motwani and Ganesh Gaekwad. Ok, one from Mumbai side too- Paul Valthaty. You are going to see them on the IPL circuit soon. And probably, on the highest level as well. Amen! :-)

That was smart thinking buddy :).
A kid in the neighbourhood has been insisting on having my RCB Jersey. But I would be cruel to him now. Luck is a hard commodity to come by :).

Cool writeup.. And thanks for getting my name on there..
The fact of the matter is that I was seated next to Lalit Modi thanks to a contest and not the RCB jersey.. But hey, when Lalit Modi paid us a visit, a lot of people around us thought i was some kind of a RCB chief :) It sure works!
