It was the batsmen's day all the way as Dilshan made merry scoring superb 92 runs missing the ton by just 8 runs. In the 1st day of the Test match against Pakistan, the Lankan captain shared a superb partnership with Sangakkara and made the Pakistan bowlers to toil hard. Dilshan was in full form after a series of low scores, he took his time to settle down but them opened up with timely 4's which boosted up his confidence level. From thereon it was Dilshan all the way enjoying the company of his partner Sangakkara who was also in solid touch. As Dilshan was slicing the ball and cutting it timely all over the park on the other hand Sangakkara was also in excellent form and together they left the bowlers clueless as they ran out of ideas on which delivery to bowl to the 2 greats. Sangakkara remained unbeaten on Day 1 at 112 runs joined by Mahela Jayawardene(32 not out) as Dilshan fell at 92 runs missing his ton just by 8 runs, his knock gave him a lot of confidence and together they took the team to a strong and commanding position as Sri Lanka ended the day at 245/2.
On the other hand, an all-round performance was produced by RCB captain Daniel Vettori as he went on to bowl a magical spell to spin Zimbabwe out as he went on to take another 5-wicket haul in his career. After the Kiwis went on to make 426 runs a useful contribution was given by Vettori scoring 40 crucial runs. His balls were a beauty and left the Zimbabwe batsmen struggling to play it on. His spell of 5/70 helped his side to gain a huge 1st innings lead of 159 runs.
