RCBians performances at the World T-20 till 23-3-2014
The performances of RCBians have been good so far at the T-20 World Cup. Here is a glimpse of their performances so far.
1) Virat kohli’s performances has been most impressive in the World Cup T-20 so far. The opening match against arch rivals Pakistan was a perfect example of his form and he took it up to the 2nd match as well against the West Indies.
Against Pakistan he made a calm and composed 36 runs with 4 fours and a six which was a very crucial innings for the team as it set up the platform to provide its 1st and important win at the big tournament.
It was a different situation in the West Indies match as India had lost opener Dhawan for a duck even though the chase was a low one if another wicket would have fallen then scenario might have been different. But Virat kohli decided to bat on and scored a magnificent half century making 54 in just 41 balls. His scoring in both the matches made the wins easy for India as the lower order batsmen did not have anything to do and top and middle order finished things off.
2) Yuvraj Singh:-
The start has not been good for the new recruit RCBian, Scoring just 1 run against Pakistan and looked out of shorts against West Indies making 10 he will have to quickly come back to form and help the middle order gain its strength. One good innings and it will boost up his confidence level high and his part time spin will be very useful in these conditions.
3) Chris Gayle:-
The “Big-hitter” tag he has got in this form of the game, he has also proven that he can stay at the crease and place the innings without the big hit as well. He showed that against India his 1st match after returning from injury, Smith the other opener was not looking in good touch but Gayle played well and made 34 in 33 balls. even though his strike rate was just 103.03 it also included 2 sixes. Chris Gayle has realized now that just big-hitting is not the nature of the game he can bat according to the situations now which is very good for the West Indies team.
4) AB De Villiers:-
He lived upto his reputation against the Kiwis smashing 24 runs in just 16 balls in the rain shortened match. He is going to be a key player for the Proteas and his big shots with various varieties are going to be to watch out for.
5) Albie Morkel:-
One would have enjoyed his short lived batting as he amazed 12 runs n just 4 balls which is a very big boost up towards the end of the innings. He is going to be a crucial finisher for the team and his part time bowling will help quite a bit if he keeps his line and length tight.
6) Mitchell Starc:-
The match against Pakistan was a high scoring thriller. We saw the best of Maxwell and Umar Akmal in it. It was a batters paradise and even in this conditions the genius Mitchell Starc proved himself well even though he was a bit expensive. His opening spell was a beauty but later onslaught by Umar Akmal and Afridi took his bowling figures to 4-0-35-1, which holded quite well for a high scoring match like this one. He is a genuine wiicket-taker and a key bowler for his team.
7) Ravi Rampaul:-
Low rated bowler has always proved himself time and again with his performances but in Asian conditions which suits spin more he was left out in the match against India even though he bowled well against Sri Lanka where he got only 2 overs to bowl where he gave away just 11 runs and took 1 wicket. This economy rate was good. He will be hoping to get his chances in the coming matches.
