RCB’s thrashing win against the Deccan Chargers
In the fiftieth encounter of DLF IPL this season, RCB pulled off a miraculous & much needed victory over Deccan Chargers, last night in Bengaluru.
Team RCB had some experimenting changes in the playing line up, in this match against DC,in Bengaluru. J Syed Mohammad,AK Pathan,P Parameswaran,A Mithun were given a chance, resting Vinay Kumar,Saurabh Tiwary,K P Apanna for this match. The major change noticed in the team was, V Kohli captaining the home side instead of D Vettori ,in an attempt to play M Muralidharan, who was sitting back for a while.
The match started on a winning note for RCB, when Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to field first.DJ Harris and S Dhawan opened the batting for DC. Zaheer and Mithun bowled alternately till the 5th over, which didn’t proved to be much economic as DC were 31 for none at the end of these five overs.Parameswaran came in to the bowling attack at the sixth over which led DC to 39 for 0. Murali came in to the rescue, delivering some beauties, which made DJ Harris miss 4 out of 6 balls of the over. But the next over bowled by Dilshan again was very expensive, when Harris hit two sixes and one four,to take the revenge of the last over.Things were going on well for DC until V Kohli took their first wicket in the 12th over bowled by S Mohammad.CL White came in for dismissed DJ Harris who knocked a 41 ball 47 runs. Parameswaran came back in the 15th over which bought S Dhawan’s 11th IPL half century.DC were sticking to, only one wicket loss, until when… in the 19th over CL White was bowled as well as caught by Parameswaran. The next batsman in for the DC was captain himself,Sangakkara. He ened their innings, hitting 10 out of just 3 deliveries, which included a boundary and an overboundary, remaining not out. S Dhawan smashed a 52 ball 73,staying not out as well.
So the target for the home team was 182 on the board, which they had to repay, for breaking their loosing streak.from the last two games. The most prefered opening partnership of Dilshan & Gayle was seen once again.Dilshan showed his magic with 2,fours in the very first over of this second innings.A wonderful piece of bowling was seen from Dale Steyn when he bowled his 19th maiden over against C Gayle. This opening partnership went on for a while when RCB lost their crucial wicket of C Gayle(26 of 22),bowled by VP Singh.RCB were 91 at this stage.Dilshan was continuing with fours and sixes when V Kohli got unbelievingly caught by Dale Steyn near the boundary, which made RCB’s chase further more difficult.V Kohli was just able to contribute 9 runs, including a single boundary.RCB still had 80 runs left to be made from just 47 balls. This 13th over turned out to be really unlucky for RCB as they immediately lost A Pathan(4) after V Kohli. RCB fans lost all hopes of winning when AB came to the rescue. It was AB from whom, the match winning 47 out of just 17 balls, came in.AB’s astonishing hits made the win look possible which initially didn’t seemed,at all.Soon the wide gap between the ‘runs needed’ and the ‘balls left’, started lessening, magically. The performance of M Agarwal was short termed but it really demands a mention.Mayank’s 6 ball 18 was a great contribution, relieving the obvious pressure on AB, upto a great extent.RCB lost the wicket of TM Dilshan(71 from 54) and M Agarwal at the 15th & 16th over ,respectively..but it didn’t made them wobbly, further because,by that time AB’s magic has done the needful and they were just a few runs away from the win, with excess balls to spare. Syed Mohammad was the last batsman to come from the homeside who hit the winning boundary when RCB camp broke into celebrations, after such a earnest halt. And with this “5 wicket and 7 balls to spare” victory, RCB reached the 5th position in the points table, with 11 points in hand.
AB De villiers, for his ‘beyond belief’ performance, was declared the Man of the Match.
