Solid Kallis, vigorous Virat and Ross the boss put RCB on the Champions League map!
What a start this has been! If there were any doubts about the way RCB were gonna go after the Otago Volts, those were put to rest the moment Uthappa and Kallis put the foot on the pitch. While Kallis started off on a solid note, it was Uthappa who provided all the cheer to the home crowd. Second time in a row, RCB proved what a mighty powerhouse of a batting unit they are. The signs look ominous for any team that runs into them next.
Some terrific blows into the crowd saw uthappa score 42 runs off 31 balls. Now this is second innings straight in which Uthappa has fired. A occasion as rare as the Diwali festivities in India. Hope we have many more of those. Kaliis may have been slow off the blocks, but it was his re assuring presence that allowed the new kid on the block- Virat Kohli to blossom at the other end. He was at his furious best and in not time provided the perfect launching pad for Ross Taylor to come in and strut his stuff.
Strut he did. And how? The way he hammered the Otago “hapless” Volts out of the park will send shivers down the spine of any bowler who wants to run into him in the later half of the tournament. His power and timing are the treasures that many batsmen can only fancy for. What power in the wrists and eyes that judge the line and length with a surgeon’s precision! I especially love the hoick that he sent over the head of long on and finally the hoick sweep off the last ball. That shot will make many a conventional thinkers shudder. Yorker, bowled at Ross, is no longer a safe option. Ross you rule! And all you guys who suggested that kallis be kept out for this game, how about some freshly brewed coffee? Wake up! In real world, real men win the battles for their teams.
