A Possible Route to become the Champions of the Champions.
While being completely incapable of predicting the number of times I would be making a fool of myself in tomorrow’s auditions, I am allowing myself the audacious liberty to chalk out an expected path for RCB towards the championship victory.
Before IPL 2009, I had predicted the Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai as three semi-finalist with Delhi as the fourth best contender on my blog here. Deccan Chargers, the eventual winners were left out. I
was ridiculed for including namma Bengaluru in the top 4 and my friends never missed a chance to remind me of that whenever RCB lost in the first half of the tournament. Of course, they conveniently forgot about the whole affair when Jumbo & boys made the legendary comeback.
Sometimes you just need to keep the faith.
Having admitted the follies of the past and armed with a disclaimer in the form of the example above, I would now chalk out how things might pan out for RCB in the coming days. To justify the results I would use a rating system for the oppositions, 10 being the opposition in final and 1 being a small town club. I am humbly putting the RCB at 9 for further analysis.

Match 1: Cape Cobras:
Rating: 7.5
Group Stage. Home Ground
All the fans have already described how the Cobras are going to be defeated. The result agrees with the ratings.
Match 2: Otago Volts:
Rating: 6.5
Group Stage. Home Ground
RCB is lucky to have the last match of the group with the weaker team. If results have been favorable in the first two matches of the group, then RCB can experiment with new blood in this match. We should win comfortably.
After the first two group matches, we would be carrying two points into the league stage since the other team to qualify from group C would have already been defeated. So we become C1 and Cape Cobras become C2.
We would now be meeting the top two teams from Group D.I expect Delhi Daredevils to top the group, followed by Victorian Bushrangers. So they are D1 & D2 respectively.
I won’t analyze the strategies for the oppositions now onwards because the further we go, the lesser is the probability of the speculated match happening.
Match 3: Victorian Bushrangers
Rating: 7
League Stage. Home Ground
RCB should win on superior rating.
Match 4: Delhi Daredevils
Rating: 9.5 (It’s better sometimes to overestimate the opposition)
League Stage. Home Ground
Home ground should help us. Till now I have been optimistic with RCB, so now would allow the benefit of doubt to opposition.
After these two matches, the semi-finalists would be decided. DD & RCB should make the cut from this League B. SO now RCB becomes League B2 team, while DD becomes League B1 team. I am expecting Deccan Chargers to be the League A1 team for the semi final.
Match 5: Deccan Chargers
Rating: 9 (They don’t have Gibbs this time)
Semi Final. Away Ground
This could be anyone’s game and we would be optimistically praying for RCB win. This will be the time to play out of our skin.
Now, the finals: Delhi Daredevils is expected to win their semi-final and we meet them again.
Match 6: Delhi Daredevils
Rating: 9.5
Final. Away Ground (For both the teams).
Would our dreams come true? Will Kumble and his boys rise to the occasion? Are we going to see the mischief gals dancing wilder than ever? Will Katrina be there? Could this be the biggest success Mr. Vijay Mallya has been waiting for?
Sometimes you just need to keep the faith.
