Run feast at New Wanderers as Dilshan Lions makes it 2-3 in the end
Three centuries were witnessed in the last ODI between South Africa & Sri Lanka were AB De Villers cracked 125 not out G.Smith made 125,Kumar Sangakkara scored 102 and Dilshan scored 41 runs.
The coin flipped for 1 last time in the series as the Lankan
Lions lead by Dilshan won the toss and elected to field. The Proteas opener
G.Smith who was under pressure to perform walked out with his partner
A.Petersen. The first few overs were played very cautiously by both of them but
Malinga got the better of Petersen as he edged the balls to the slips. Du Plessis was sent in next and he build up a
decent 60 runs partnership with Smith. After Du Plessis fell in came captain AB
De Villers fresh from making 96 in the last match stayed on and batted with
ease. The De Villers-Smith partnership
was getting along strongly and it was beginning to look dangerous.

Smith was timing the ball well out there and De Villers was
looking to have a go at the other end. The batsmen made a merry and none of the
Lankan bowlers were spared in the process exceptional being Herath &
Kulasekara. The runs were flowing at good pace and Sixes were being carted.
Smith reached his century and celebrated and he departed after making 125 runs with
9 fours and 4 sixes as Malinga got his 2nd wicket. Even as Smith
departed De Villers took on and kept scoring at fast rate finding the gaps with
ease and hitting 4 gigantic sixes by the end of the innings.

AB De Villers remained unbeaten on 125 which were scored of
just 98 balls that also included 10 fours and 4 sixes. The Proteas reached to
312 runs with the loss of just 4 wickets at the end of the 50th
over.

Tillakaratne Dilshan started the chase with partner Tharanga
and gave a bright start to the team. Tharanga was in good touch and Dilshan
whacked a four in the very 2nd over to start of well. Rain
interrupted in the 7th over but play began soon after. Tharanga fell
for 46 as Dilshan was joined by Sangakkara. Dilshan was in supreme form taking
it forward from the last match and kept the run rate in check scoring 5 sweetly
timed boundaries to the fence. He got out after making 41 runs. Sangakkara
played a match winning knock of 102 runs which contained 10 fours and Thirimanne’s well made 69 took the Lankans home as they won a thriller towards the end by 2 wickets as the series ended 2-3.
