Should we experiment?

Recent loss against SriLanka in the Asia Cup has got a debate linked to it, whether or not should we experiment with the team?

Ohk, I agree, like everyone else, even I want to see my team win each and every match. And of course, nothing wrong in that too. But this time my blog-post revolves around another question, when we are already through to the finals, should we experiment with the team? My friend and me got into a debate over this and I thought what better place than the RCB fan-club it would be to find out what do the fans want.

Well, there are two sides of the coin. One side says, since we were already into the finals with 2 emphatic wins and 1 match to go, which was nothing more than a dummy match, shouldn't we allow the players who have not got a chance to play to showcase their talent? Why should it be always the same players that we should retain. Why shouldn't we take risk in some matches and especially when the outcome of the game was to have no affect on the championship results. With the world cup not far away, we ought to test new players, give the young players some experience and allow them to handle pressure situations. So what if we lose a game or two in that process. Well that's my point of view.

My friend believes otherwise. He says why should you lose the winning combination? Why do you want to throw away the momentum of winning? Why do you want the players to lose confidence? Why do you want to give the psychological advantage to the opponents before the BIG final? And most importantly, What about your fans and the millions of people who are watching and supporting the team, they only watch to see the team win! If it wasn't there for the fans, the players would not have been the stars they are today.

Well, like a coin, both the sides of the story seem correct and it is difficult to come to a conclusion or say that which one is correct!

What do you guys feel or think? Let's discuss and see what the fans want!

What combination are you talking about? There should be a hard and fast rule that when a player doesn't perform, you drop him and then get people who perform. A set of players should be made to play matches irrespective of the losses with only minor changes.

More than the the management making the decision advertising considerations and media hype is ruling who gets selected or unselected

Every "experiment" needs to be designed before execution to yield any benefits. Mix n match isnt experimentation.
