My review on the rookies whom i think will make it big in the cricketing world.

The U-19 world cup has always produced pots of talent. With players like Eoin Morgan,Srikar Dhawan,Wayne Parnell,Rillie Russow,Virat Kohli etc.. making tremendous progress as cricket professionals. Here are some guys whom i think will go on and past their name in the above list.Have a look coz you may find them become the talk of the town very soon.

BABAR AZAM

Once upon a time there was a babur who was a descendant of chengiz khan and timur the lame, who went on to become the emperor of Hindustan. Though this young lad doesn’t have any great cricketing background to boast off, but he has all qualities in him that can make him an emperor of cricket. This 15 year old kid came into the Maori soil of New Zeland with a great deal of self belief in him after having top scored in the U-19 triseries between Pakistan,Sri lanka and Bangladesh and continued his dream run with the highest individual score scored in this edition of the tournament !!The young run machine dint stop here, he went on to show us that age is no barrier by finishing the tournament with almost 300 runs in his kitty, the third highest in the tournament. The youngest player in the tournament proved that he was a complete warrior who had mastered the art of wielding both the weapons of the cricket field the bat and the ball.He had a nice mixture of pie chuckers, offies and doosras to showcase to us. The latest entrant into the RCB bandwagon Ashok Menaria was given a tough time facing his off spinners, more often than not it was the babar delivery that beat menaria’s bat rather than the vice versa. I see a cocmbination of a javed miandad and saqlan mustaq in him. With time by his side I am sure legendship awaits this lad!!

KRAIGG BRATHWAITHE

Brathwaite made his first-class debut aged just 16 and impressed, scoring 73 while opening the batting for Barbados. He was called up for the West Indies squad for the Test series against Bangladesh in 2009, when senior players had gone on strike, and was subsequently awarded a contract by the West Indies Cricket Board. A patient batsman, who likens his batting style to Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Brathwaite was instrumental in getting the team from the Caribbean a place in the semifinals, finishing second in the list of run machines. The great performance of the Trinidadian team in the champions league followed up by another in newzeland would have surely brought music into the ears of the people in the paradise like isles, which of late have become paupers in international cricket from having boasted of the best princes ever seen. Will this opening bat lead the team back to it’s golden era?? only time will tell. But, it is certain that he has it in him to emulate his great ‘forefathers’. When I saw him bat it was as if he could pierce gaps with ease even if there were 22 fielders!!

JOSH HAZLEWOOD

For a guy who has shared the dressing room consisting of binga,Bollinger, bracken it was not a big deal leading the pace attack of the boys from down under. His performances in the semi final and final showed us what experience can instill in you. Having debuted against new zeland and bowled to some of the best batsmen in the oz county in his first class career he put his capacities and experience to action by bagging wickets at crucial junctions .His name no doubt is being discussed by the selectors for a national call up but with a lot of big names like Rimmington,Cockley etc.. also in the fray it will be tough for him to burst into the international scenario soon. But, when his time comes all of us will have to watch out, coz we may see a second Mcgrath!!

RAYMOND HAODA

I wasn’t fortunate to see this guy bowl courtesy star cricket who dint display any of the matches played by his country. To come from a country that has relatively no cricketing history and to top the charts for bagging the most number of wickets is not any joke!!
Due to the lack of ‘saboot’ I am quoting from cricinfo
“A tall fast bowler, Raymond Haoda grabbed 14 wickets in the ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifiers, including a five-for against Hong Kong. He attended two ICC East Asia-Pacific training camps, and has been on a scholarship with Marist Harewood Cricket Club in Christchurch this year.”
With minnows like Afghanistan,Netherlands,Ireland and bangladesh waiting to give the top teams shackles, new guinea are all set to join the tango if more of such hidden talents come out.

HAMMAD AZAM

A real bloke who seems to be ready for a duel every time he enters the pitch be it batting or bowling. From what I have observed this ‘man’ can do wonders if he sets into T20 mode. The moment he comes out to bat, just like a hun war here wielding a club he swings the bat in air with all his might intending to do the ‘maximum’ damage. Though his position in the team is of a first change bowler or an occasional new ball bowler,it was his batting that took the honours. He proved that he could handle crunch situations by steering Pakistan home in the quarterfinals and the semis. Even his bowling does not lack luster though his batting performance in the tournament stands out. For a guy who can use his height to extract pace and bounce,it should not be tough to give tough time to batsmen who fear the short balls. Are we looking at an Imran Khan here??

These are my top 5.The next five performers who have caught my eye comming up next week.
