Team India Registers its 1st win of the tour over Australia
Birthday Boy Vinay Kumar lead the bowling attack from front as Sachin Tendulkar was rested in the match against Australia according to the Rotation Policy.
In an all important match India took on field without Sachin Tendulkar who was being rested and Gambhir had a look in. Australia were without Mike Hussey so Pointing was sent out to open and his woeful form continued Birthday Boy RCB player Vinay Kumar got him out in the 4th over for 6. Warner was looking to play a slow and steady knock just then Vinay Kumar dislodged the stumps to run him out after a brilliant throw that came in from Rohit Sharma. Zaheer Khan was troubling the batsmen from the other end not giving much room for them. Clarke was looking good along with debutant Forrest and both steadied the Aussie innings. Clarke fell to Yadav as David Hussey and Forrest played on till the 36th over and took the score to 179 and David fell for 72 in the 45th over when score was 235. Christian and Wade were looking to finish of the things just when Vinay Kumar came back for another deadly spell and bowled out Wade as well as he got the run out of McKay. Vinay Kumar's spell later on kept Australia 20 runs short in their 50 overs.
Indian openers Gambhir-Sehwag walked out and began the run chase. They gave a good start to India maintaining a run rate of 6-7 rpo. Finding boundaries with ease and looking to steal runs. Sehwag fell for 20 after a partnership of 52 runs in 9.1 overs as young gun Virat Kohli played well after him but could not built on. Virat Kohli made 18 runs and perished looking to hit out at the Aussie bowlers.
Gambhir was playing a great knock and reached his 50 and batted all way long. Rohit had a good partnership and so did Raina found his form by making a quick 38 of 30balls. Gambhir tried his best to play on and timed boundaries well as well as rotated strikes well. He fell for 92 runs missing his 100 by 8 taking India closer to victory. Dhoni had began playing very slowly but later on switched his gear along with Raina even as Raina fell as last over 13 runs were required and Dhoni played on till the end keeping his cool and made 44 not out from 58 balls giving India its 1st win over the hosts. It was a thrilling win indeed.
