This post is in reponse to a comment elsewhere on this site by a RCB Fanatic Fan questining the right of a CSK Fan to register as a RCB Fan and openly declare that he s a CSK Fan
Read on to ponder over this and find out why you have to welcome fans from other clubs into the 'hallowed portals of RCB Fan Club'
Hey RCB Fanatic Fan
Does it upset you if Quizzomaniac comes here and declares that he is a CSK fan?? Be hospitable (have you travelled by Kingfisher to understand what hospitality means?) and welcome people of all cricketing caste and creed with open arms.
Personally to me, there is so much to read, watch and do on MyRCB site, that I have no time or inclination to visit websites of our rival teams. But this case of Q'Maniac being reprimanded for entering RCB site prompted me to visit the CSK site and see what it has to offer, and what drives "thousands of anonymous CSK Fans" and 1 Quizzomaniac to visit RCB site!
By admitting he is a True CSK Fan, he is telling us that CSK website doesn't feed him enough to whet his 'huge cricket-talk appetite' and thirst for Kingfisher-cricket in pitchers.
Here are my observations about what Quizzomaniacs have found wanting in the CSK site:
1) There is nothing called Fanatic Fan Club or its equivalent
2) There is a registration process which doesn’t seem to be functioning
3) There is a “Store” with all products showing “Sold Out”
4) It doesn’t look like “Fanatic Fans” can blog. Looks like they can only comment.
5) Looks like they have “nominated bloggers” – the last blog is dated 24 May 2009. It's about their loss to RCB in SF. (In contrast RCB Fans have long forgoten its successes and failures and are looking forward to IPL 2010)
6) Only registered users can post comment. The last comment is dated 1st June 2009.
7) I don’t see any Community Managers, pretty faces, etc etc
8) No announcements of contests, freebies, etc etc
9) No trivia, crosswords, prizes, etc etc
10) No friendship amongst the fans
11) How many more do you want me to list …
12) OMG, how can I forget ... there is no Katrina Kaif, let alone twonnets and poems for her!!!
When this is the situation, what else should Quizzomanics do? Do we want our fellow cricket-lovers and fans of rival teams to starve and die?
Mother Cauvery keeps telling us that we should quench the thirst of our brethern, especially our neighbours. This is an age old tradition that we have to maintain – we may fight tooth and nail, but at the end of the day, we will turn the tap on and let Kingfisher flow to quench their thirst! Why else does one think United Breweries is headquartered in Bangalore??
And how can we forget, they graciously accepted defeat in the semifinals of IPL 2009.
In parting, I can only say this to Quizzomaniacs who seek solace and comfort at RCB Fan Club:
We shall always be hospitable! Come, drink as much Kingfisher as you want, do whatever else you want to do … but … but ..
“Don’t openly tell us you are a CSK Fan” In other words, don't P... in public. (There are too many ladies here!!). That’s one thing that will surely make us ask for your ration card. Poshin probably was right!
Wars have been fought, conflicts continue to exist all over the world - India is no exception. Wars over sites and wars over thirst-quenchers!
Territorial instinct is one of the most basic human instincts in mankind since times immemorial.
Cheers. Enjoy Kingfisher on this site. It's on the house. For anyone, all the time!

That seems to have changed bow! Quizzo is back...so no issues, I guess. Poor guy, where will he go with so much passion for cricket in him!
Now it's your turn to convert this FAN to LOYAL FAN and then to FANATIC FAN! Quite some distance to go still. Enroute, if Chikka stops him for a chat, we should eavesdrop and find out what the conversation is about :)
Excellent post..Bang on..U got all the points right...
The best one was no.5 in you're reply to @radiosandeep..
more than a cricket lover im a true RCB fan...
i think this is how big sporting clubs worldwide have so much fan following..Take the example of a Manchester United from the English premier league...
You're blog is just perfect..
@Deepak don't go anywhere, you're STILL welcome here, just make sure you're positive about the Royal Challengers mmkay?
thnx
@Nidhi We need to keep reinventing ourselves. As group and also as individuals. These controversies will help 'get it out of our system'! Good medicine for dormant viruses in our minds!
Thankfully, I am very clear now: "What is your religion in cricketland?" will define who are my friends on this site and who aren't :)
@Raghu and @Sandeep - feel the need to step in and prevent an online brawl!! :D Raghu's been famous in the last five months for making comments that invite (instigate?!) discussion. He means no harm. With a load of new fans coming in through the MGM program and an avalanche of new fans expected next week, keep in mind, they don't know the history of the Fan Club and the individual fans. Good idea would be for us oldies to introduce ourselves to them.... this somehow reminds me of that Sahil guy from FFC1 - remember him Raghu?
1. You are trying to read too much between the lines where nothing exists. It is quite likely that Siva's post on RCB Loyalty would have been weighing heavily in my mind (hope you have read my comment on that - I did not get @dfinch 's response)
2. I have been ALWAYS consistent - If one is not an RCB Fan, by all means browse every nook and corner of the site. If you sign up as an RCB Fan, better be one and don't say I am a CSK Fan. Otherwise, we are fooling ourselves by thinking 30K+ "RCB Fans" have signed up!
3. Let's not get as emotional about Cauvery as we would about Kashmir. Let's not lose our ability to think rationally just because the word Cauvery has been used. Read the full sentence Sandeep, don't focus on just one word.
4. I have listed what all we have 'that CSK doesn't have'. You may say it is "bragging" but nothing more than that. EC team has really worked hard and let's tell them so, in every possible way.
5. I am not a cricket fan. I am an RCB Fan. Tomorrow if RCB gets into soccer, I'll be there too, even though I don't understand the game. So RCB has to win. CSK has to lose to RCB. Every match, played fairly. I adore Dhoni and wish him success in every match - except against RCB
6. In IPL, I identify fans by the team they support and not the region to which they belong.
From Chennai and supporting RCB - Good Boy!
From Chennai and supporting CSK - Bad Boy
From Karnataka and supporting CSK - Very Bad Boy!!
My only worry is, after Kumble and Dravid, who??
7. Nidhi has, without protest, gone through the many tests I have put her on RCB Loyalty and she has passed all tests with distinction! No issues.
8. If it was a MI fan instead of CSK fan - see point 6. above
9. RCB is a religion, isn't it? Luckily a religion that can be chosen, not inherited by birth. This religion has no geographical boundaries. Only boundaries in the mind.
10. Finally, if Karnataka or RCB lose, my heart bleeds profusely. If India loses a series or World Cup or T20 WC, I get terribly upset. If India loses matches now and then, doesn't affect me much. After all, it is a game. Anyway, there are a billion people to cry and share the loss.
PS: At the Taj Lounge in Chennai airport, as recently as last week, Kingfisher was not available - because they don't stock KF. Golden Eagle only.
