The close finish-Kings XI Punjab
This was another close finish game in this IPL-5, one thing that made me happy was, from no where the game went on to end with a thriller.
Match No.44 Royal Challengers Vs Kings XI punjab played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore with Punjab winning the toss and electing to field. The Rcb openers Mayank Agarwal and Chris Gayle were out in the middle. Disappointment for the home crowd as Mayank loses his wicket early,Chris Gayle leading from the front along with Virat Kohli have to consolidate well, with Praveen Kumar bowling extremely well just gave away 8 runs in his 4 overs made things difficult for the RCB batsmen, but at a point of time Gayle stood up against the leg spinner Piyush Chawla who went for 35 in his three overs and even Virat was in good touch with this match, sixes and fours were coming just at the right time and this match found the highest six hit by the batsmen in this tournament when Gayle hammered Nayar that went too long and it was a 111m six the highest and the longest till now. Things were going fine until Azhar Mehmood was called on to bowl an over when 180 was certainly on the cards for the Royal Challengers, but the King’s all rounder broke the partnership off 119 so easily by getting the wicket of Chris Gayle for a well made 71 of just 42 balls, soon Virat too found his way back following Gayle this time Piyush striking his first wicket of the match. The run rate was dipping every time, King’s XI bowlers did extremely well once after taking the wicket of Kohli and Gayle there was not any big contributions down the order from the Rcb batsmen and the home team just managed to put on a score of 158/5 in the allotted 20 overs.
It was a confident start by the Kings XI openers Mandeep Singh and Marsh, Mandeep singh took took the responsibility of scoring runs quickly as his partner marsh took time to settle down, but soon the aussie lost his wicket to his fellow aussie McDonald, but this wicket did not bother the visitors much, followed by Saini, the local boys did a pretty good job for the Kings XI the duo added runs quickly and they made sure they were not under any pressure till Appana came into bowl and broke the partnership by picking up the wicket of Mandeep. Things looked easy for King’s XI when David hussy came into bat and soon Saini reached his 50 and he too lost his wicket by then, but the visitors were well under control of chasing the target with david hussy playing a captain’s knock, but things do change quickly in t-20 games, when Azhar Mehmood was run out for two runs amazing work by AB.D and Vinay, followed by the wicket of David Hussy another run out, tension prevailed in King’s XI dug out and the very next ball Nayar was also run out, the three run out’s made Rcb back into the game with Zak’s amazing bowling in the 19th over. Needed 5 runs of the last six balls, Vinay did managed well before being hit for a six by Piyush Chawla and that made King’s XI breathe easy at the last moment.
