The Close Finsh-Mumbai Indians
The go green Match for the Royal Challengers, the Mumbai Indians went on to win a thriller against the Royal challengers Bangalore.
Indian Premier League - 62nd match played between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians, the toss was delayed for sometime due to rain in Bangalore. Over cast conditions and the toss remained so crucial and the Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first. The Rcb Openers Gayle and Dilshan were not able to give the start. Chris Gayle was the first man to be dismissed by Munaf patel giving the breakthrough for the Mumbai Indians and soon Virat too was run out for just three runs and the home side was struggling 11/2 and time for Dilshan again to consolidate the innings along with Tiwary. Things were going on well and Tiwary was in good touch with couple of six's to his name. When the Royal Challengers were just building a partnership, Tiwary lost his wicket by kicking his stumps and was declared hit wicket and the home side has just scored 47/3 in 6.3 overs, Royal challengers needed some one who could stay till the end and Ab de Villiers has to play the role of the magician once again, but he wasn't able to provide the support and lost his wicket for 14 runs and Dilshan at the other end kept losing his partners and was not able to build the required partnership, that was the time when the young Mayank Agarwal arrived at the crease when the home side was struggling for 87 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Dilshan and Mayank added 46 runs for the fifth wicket before dilshan departed for a patient 47 of 50 balls and hope remained as Mayank was still carrying on and Vinay too followed Dilshan for a run and Mayank did not take much time and batted so well and the 7th wicket partnership along with Zaheer Khan was 37 runs in just 2.1 overs and the last over of the match went for 24 runs including two six's and two four's and Mayank Agarwal reached his highest score ever in the Ipl t-20 64 of just 30 balls and his first ever fifty of the DLF - IPL, earlier 45 being his highest score and the home side finished with a score of 171/6 in their 20 overs.
Defending 171, the bowlers did start well and Sachin Tendulkar was out his very first ball and zak was in business straight away followed by a brilliant work in the deep by Appanna. Gibbs soon followed sachin and the visitors were down 4/2 and Rohit Sharma coming from a century in his last game looked dangerous but Vinay removed him caught on his own bowling and MI looked like they were on the back seat 19/3. Dinesh Karthik showed some faith with his batting but was removed by Murali for 16 runs and the visitors were certainly struggling 44/4 in 7.5 overs. MI still had fire power to come as Ambati looked cool and was getting singles now and then rotating the strike, lot was expected from Smith but he too fell by just making 6 runs and Mumbai Indians needed some brutal hitting to win this match and that exactly happened, at one stage they were 51/5 in 8.5 overs and the partnership between Ambati and Pollard looked dangerous and took the game away from the Royal Challengers. They made things look easy for the Mumbai Indians, once again the death bowling proved costly for the Royal Challengers giving away 122 runs in just 10.2 overs. But we still have a chance to make it to the play offs and hope for the best in the next couple of matches. Go Challengers!!
