The Question of Security

Tackling with a
serious issue, I would like to commence my posting at RCB fan club blog. For
past few days I was overwhelmed with the feeling of meeting my favourite
personalities Mr. Anil Kumble, Mr. Siddhartha Mallya, Mr. Ray Jennings and Mr.
Sambit Bal. I was so excited for past few days that I wasn't able to think or
do anything else than just living in that moment when I saw them and when they
interviewed me.

But last night when I
was going through all those memories, a serious question struck my brain. The
question regarding Security. We all were so much overjoyed because of this
event that none of the participant was able to think about it.

At Chinnaswammi Stadium,
I couldn't see security arrangements at all. The persons who came from outside
Bangalore had a security check at airport but there was no security checks at
the stadium. I guess at an event where such famous personalities have to make
public appearance, security is the first most important thing in the check
list. Even there was no check on the people who were coming from outside and
didn't participated in the event.

My friend came to
visit me over the stadium and I was surprised that he was able to simply
walk-in the stadium without anyone asking the reason for coming. It was a real
surprise for me as anyone could come to the venue with even firearms or even
explosives. At this time when IPL is so close and also because of Commonwealth
games being so close; there is so much threat for any kind of terrorist
attacks. Also, the recent blast in Pune is an alerting sign for such
activities. In such a crucial period, an event was organized with no security
provisions was a very dangerous step.

I request everyone
responsible for the management of all the events for RCB to please take note of
security issues whenever you conduct an event like this in future.

Regards,

A Die Heart RCB Well
Wisher,

Gautam.

There's a similar concern with Ferozeshah Kotla. On off days(non match days) one can simply walk in and loiter around in the ground for a walk and that is a sorry state of affair.I could easily go upto the dressing room without notice. There should be sufficient security measures in place at the stadiums.

The hought crossed my mind and I was delighted that our country is so safe if there is no security hype! I did not talk about it because that is the best way to enjoy "a democracy without shackles"

You have done the right thing by raising the issue and hopefully there will not be any laxity anywhere.

We are dealing with inhuman and fanatic terrorism and we just can't behave like sitting ducks.

Gautam,

Its correct that IPL is still a few days away and the match day security arrangements are not in place. However, there should have been proper arrangements by now because the foreign players have started arriving and the serious run-up to the event has started. God forbid, if any untoward incident takes place, in the days ... See Moreleading up to the event, it might cast a dark shadow over the entire IPL. We need to be extremely alert, ready and secured.

There is a large number of people who want IPL to be a success and an equally large number of people in Pakistan who would want IPL to be doomed.

This is the only reason Praveen that I have made this post. I want the management to be strict towards security. And not to leave any loop holes in future.

I completely agree to you Gautam. When we reached the stadium, I was under the impression that the cops or other security personnel would be present there when the celebrated personalities reach the venue. However, it was really a shocking reality to see absolutely no security arrangements for an event of this stature.

By God's grace, nothing untoward happened, but, we can't keep depending on God to do everything and hopefully, there will be more emphasis on this aspect, the next time around.
