The T-20 World Cup 2014 - India Vs Pakistan
The high profile match played yesterday and Pakistan are still finding a way to defeat India in a world cup match.
The fifth edition of the T-20 world cup being Played at Bangladesh and the first match of the super 10 between India and Pakistan. India always maintains the record of winning all the matches they had played against Pakistan in world cup. Both the teams were cheered ardently at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. The atmosphere was awesome as always. At the toss, Dhoni decided to bowl and India played with three specialist spinners Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra and 160 looked like a good score. Not a good start by the Pakistan openers, a mix up between Akmal and Shehzad. Akmal was a long way down, Bhuvneshwar had plenty of time to take aim he hit the stumps and the led bails were flashing, 9/1 Pakistan. The Indian bowlers never gave away easy runs, Pakistan batsmen found hard and Hafeez was the next one to go, mistiming one as Jadeja picked a wicket in his very first over, 44/2 Pakistan. Dhoni did use Ashwin in the very first over of the match that gave a clear idea on the pitch the track had the turn and the bounce. Amit Mishra was expected to do wonders after his good show in the Asia cup, Mishra striked with a classic legbreak, Shehzad stumped dancing down the track and three wickets down for Pakistan for 47 runs. The 4th wicket partnership between Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik added 50 runs and that was the only promising run making partnership for Pakistan. It was again Amit Mishra breaking the half century stand and this time it was Shoaib Malik, Raina taking a catch at the long-off,97/4. A score of 150 certainly looked difficult for Pakistan, Indian bowlers were spot on, wickets kept falling at regular intervals and pressure kept mounting on the batsmen. Umar Akmal(33) had been holding the Pakistan Innings and a leading edge towards long-off, Raina takes comfortable catch, another big wicket. Pakistan needed Afridi magic and that did not happen he was dismissed for 8 runs and Pakistan had lost most of their hard hitting batsmen and thanks to Sohaib Maqsood‘s 11 ball 21 low down the order, that took Pakistan to a respectable total of 130 for the loss of 7 wickets. For India, the bowlers have done an excellent job restricting a team below 150. Amit Mishra picked 2 wickets for 22 in his 4, Jadeja, Bhuvi and Shami Picked one each. India needed 131 to win.
The chase looked easy, Dhawan and Rohit had a cautious start and added 54 runs. Both the batsmen needed to get runs top the order and they had managed. Dhawan scored 30 before he perished to the short ball from Umar Gul. Rohit Sharma (24) looking to cut the ball that was spinning away, gets a bottom edge onto the stumps Saeed Ajmal strikes. Both the openers back to the pavilion after a decent start. Yuvraj Singh was cleaned up, the very first ball, a yorker from Bilawal Bhatti. The batsmen had no clue and was out for a run. It was all in the hands of Virat Kohli and the come back kid Suresh Raina, the duo handled every bowler with class and aggression and made sure they stayed till the end. Raina looked confident facing the short ball and some of them were hit out of the park, he played with so much of ease and Virat Kohli at the other end was a treat to watch. The duo added 66* in 8.2 overs and handled the Saeed Ajmal without any trouble, he was the pick of the Pakistan Bowlers along with Hafeez, while the rest went for runs. India chased the target in 18.3 overs, Virat Kohli (36) Suresh Raina (35) remained unbeaten. India start off the t-20 world cup campaign with a majestic win. Keep Cheering!
Amit Mishra was adjudged man of the match(4 overs 2/22)
