R D speaks..
India’s premier test batsman Rahul Dravid said that he was ready
to take on Ajantha Mendis in the upcoming away test series against SL.
“He is an important bowler and he did play a crucial role in our
series loss in 2008, but, we played him well at home earlier and I am sure we
are better prepared to play him now.” Rahul said.
When asked about his own preparations for facing Mendis, this is
what Rahul said.
“I don’t need to do any special preparations and the long gap
after IPL has helped me a lot. I got time to spend with my family and to work
on fitness and relaxation. Now it is time to get back to cricket”
Rahul was speaking to the media in New Delhi where he received an
award “The person of the year” and also launched the ‘Limca Book of Records’
latest edition.
Looking forward to at least one more double century from you in
this series Rahul..

Like all of us cricket lovers, even I would want them to continue playing, but, we have to accept the reality and the reality is that we are witnessing the very last phase of the career of these great batsmen. The fact that Laxman and Rahul are playing only tests and Sachin, though, as masterly as ever is 37+ now, makes me believe that we are not going to see these guys in action in 2012. Laxman, being younger by a couple of years may play a bit longer only if he stays fit. I would also not want these super players to wait till the time their forms desert them and they are forced to resign when they couldn't score. I would want them to score double centuries in their last knocks.
I m sure Rahul will do well. With hardly any test matches in India's schedule ahead, each and every test inning is very important for Rahul. Even in the twilight of his career, the Wall is just as invincible as ever. Good luck to RD and India..I really want him, Sachin and Laxman to play vintage knocks and win the series for us.
