No team is complete without the fringe cricketers. At the end of the day 'star value' counts for nothing, it's just the onfield performance.
The talk around RCB seems to revolve around the stalwarts like Kumble, Dravid and Kallis, but somewhere down the line, we have completely forgotten about the lesser known cricketers, the likes of Balachandra Akhil, Rajesh Bishnoi and Bhuvnesh Kumar, a new addition to the squad in the absence of Jesse Ryder who will miss out due to an injury.
These guys are experienced cricketers, who haven't got the opportunity to prove their mettle so far, and will be looking to make their name on the bigstage with some stellar performances in the Champions League.
The recently concluded Karnataka Premiere League came as a blessing in disguise for these cricketers, who used the platform to get into good rhythm, so any doubts over their form and fitness can be put to rest. Akhil was the captain of the side that clinched the title, and Vinay Kumar was an intergal part of the Panthers that finished runners up, which also had the likes of Manish Pandey and Arun Kumar (who represented RCB in season-1).
RCB seems to have a complete package for the star studded league, and no team is complete without the fringe cricketers who can do a bit of everything.
Best wishes boys, go get the CUP !!
