Time for a ‘CHANGE’

After rooting for this team for three seasons, its time to ring in the New year with a new RCB team.

royal challengers

The IPL governing council met in Mumbai today and set Jan 8 & 9 2011, for player auctions for the next three seasons. Although the player retention policies are yet to be sorted out completely the basic rules have been decided. For the four players who will be retained by their franchisees-  The first player retained will cost a team $1.8 million, second $1.3 million, third $900,000 and fourth $500,000.

Number games apart, its a bit heartening to wonder as to how will we fans react to it. Having rooted and bonded so well with the Men in 'Red and Gold'..the likes of Dravids, Taylors, Jacques & Jumbos..!

Had it been simple mathematics like a few new additions & couple of subtractions, the auctions wouldn't have made a big difference. But the 'RCB fan club' has been built over this very team a couple of years back and loyalties too have grown immensely.

Having spent the last tournament (CLT20) with this team, I recall how Robin Uthappa got a bit emotional on the last day when the team left for India..one last time as a unit.

Team owners Mr. Mallya and Sidhartha have a yet another challenge in front of them and Junior Mallya being passionate about the game, I'm sure he won't let us fans down. grin

not a great idea for RCB to retain players.
we don't have a player who costs $1.8million.
acc. to me there are only three players for that cost.
other teams, I dont think they will retain any players.
