Best Batsmen of the year 2012:-
1) Chris Gayle:-
Chris Gayle took his team to go on to win the World T-20 Cup. His big hitting and solid opening batting was enjoyed by all and West Indies went up to lift the cup. Even in IPL Gayle was a good success for Royal Challengers Bangalore in this season as well. He has been a sensational player for West Indies Team which game the side a huge boost up and raised the confidence level of the entire team and has also been the man of the moment for RCB.
2) Tillakaratne Dilshan:-
Tillakaratne Dilshan stands at no.10 position
in T-20 due to his superlative contribution with the bat during the year 2012.
He played a crucial role in World Twenty 20 taking Sri Lanka to Finals against
3) Virat Kohli:-
Virat Kohli stood one spot at 2nd
position behind Hasim Amla to finish at second position as ODI batsmen. He was
named vice-captain of the ODI team for the 2012 Asia Cup in march, this
promotion itself spoke for the electrifying youngster of Team India. He scored
183 off 148 balls against Pakistan in the fifth match of Asia Cup 2012. He
scored as many as 5 centuries in ODI format in 2012.
4) Kumar Sangakkara:-
No.1 Test batsman of the year rightly belonged to Kumar Sangakkara as he went on to win three awards, including the prestigious
Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year at the annual ICC awards
ceremony in Colombo. Sangakkara also won the People’s Choice prize, an honour
he had received last year as well.
5) Michael Clarke:-
Michael Clarke achieved the Australian
record for the most Test runs in a year in 2012 on the second day at the MCG.
He was in tremendous touch in the Test series against South Africa and proved
his magic with the bat once again against Sri Lanka.
6) Alistar Cook:-
Alistar Cook cant be left out as his
mention had to be there. He had an excellent year specially in India scoring
centuries and batting to his heart content which helped England beat India in
Test series playing in India.
Best Bowlers of the year 2012:-
1) Saeed Ajmal:-
On 13th Feb 2012, Saeed
Ajmal took 5 wicket haul against England giving away just 43 runs. He has been
very economical in the T-20 format as well and has also taken good amount of
wickets. He has been a key bowler for Pakistan in all formats of the game and
has been No.1 T-20 & ODI bowler for the year 2012.
G.Swann has enjoyed being the lead
spinner for England and this has also showed in his bowling in T-20’s. His spin
has stopped the batsmen from scoring freely in the shorter format and he has also taken wickets to be
regarded as next best T-20 bowler after Ajmal.
3) Dale Steyn:-
Dale Steyn has been phenomenal in the
Test matches as a bowler and most feared in Tests at the moment. His fast balls
and economy rate has made him a stand out bowler in Test matches during the
M.Hafeez has been a surprise package in
ODI format with his bowling and stand 2nd behind Ajmal. He has been
very very economical and has also been among wickets. Being an opening batsmen
who balls 10 over spell almost all the time it has been an excellent year for
Hafeez as well.
