Update on Day 1 in South Africa, who's here, Anil Kumble's favorite gift from the Royal Send Off and more!
Touching base after a 14 hour long journey, we joined the team while they were pracitising at the High Performance Centre (HPC), at University of Pretoria.
The HPC with its state of art amenities houses training centres for some of the top rugby, soccer, netball and cricket teams among others.
Our team in its full strength (Taylor and White joined in later) was busy sweating it out at the nets when we reached the HPC late in the afternoon. What caught our eye was, Robin Uthappa working doubly hard on his fitness, being injury ridden after the IPL. Opponents watch out! Mr. Sixappa is gearing up.
Cameron White & Ross Taylor joined the squad later in the evening, really jetlagged, and then it was dinner calling!
The informal dinner served as the perfect ice breaker of sorts, where we Chiefs were introduced to the entire team. Seated across the skipper and along side the coach we had great time interacting with the rest of the squad, filling them in about our cricket quotient. Fresh out of the 'Royal Send Off; mode, we were keen to know what were the best gifts the players had received. Kumble said that he found it easier to choose from, thanks to the 'limited options'. I'm sure it would have been really tough for Dravid to pick one, considering the fact that he was clamoured with gifts from most of the fans. True to his forte, Jumbo chose a miniature ball as his favourite gift from the Send off. Now who is that lucky Fan??
A sumptuous dinner and desserts fare later, it was time to catch up on some banter, the RCB way! Bonding over a hilarious video by Prasanna, the team Analyst, the team was in splits and Sidhartha just couldnít get enough of it. It was time to call it a day and gear up for the warm up match against the Central Stags.
