Warrior Prince downs the Challengers

Here's my take on yesterdays match

The first match of the CLT20 started yesterday as the Warriors took on the Royal Challengers at home.  RCB managed to put up a competitive 172 on the board despite losing the way near the end.  Warriors in reply were struggling after the 10th over, but then a huge partnership between Prince and captain Botha helped the team come close to the target and the Warriors clinched a win off the very last ball!

Match 6 - Warriors vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Result - Warriors (173 for 7) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (172 for 8) by two wickets [SCORECARD]

"Sloppy fielding cost us the match" - Those were Daniel Vettori's words in the press conference afterwards as he tried to explain the loss that never should have taken place.  RCB dropped a couple of catches and looked sloppy in the field.  There were plenty of misfields and even overthrows.  A missed run out chance just added to their vows as the fielding failed to put any kind of pressure on the Warrior's batsmen.  Surely had RCB fielded batter, I'm sure that they would have won and I hope that in the future the difference between the two teams is not fielding.

The Warrior Prince - Ashwell Prince the MOM yesterday played a stellar innings as he almost saw his team through.  He anchored the chase and provided the needed stability required by any team chasing a huge target. Prince played some exquisite strokes and he hit two sixes of a Gayle over in the most unPrincelike fashion.  He scored 74 off just 55 balls which consisted of 3 sixes and 6 boundaries.  It was a treat to watch him play despite the fact that he was scoring against my team and I'm glad that he managed to prove the point that even technically correct batsmen can play T20 cricket.

CLT20 - the main stage has started with a bang and I'm sure that if we have plenty more of yesterdays match, then it will become a great product.  I'm sure that the Challengers will bounce back soon and that yesterday was just a bad day at the office.
