What a poor captaincy to begin the campaign?
It is a disappointing start for RCB.
It is a disappointing start for RCB.Being put to bat,in what looked like a good wicket to bat on, RCB were never in the game for even a single over of the match. It was a dominating performance by KKR. It was a excellent captaincy by Sourav Ganguly, who rotated his bowlers very well.He never allowed RCB to enter into the game.
In contrast, I was more than disappointed with Anil Kumble.I thought he actually made some blunders while donning the captain's cap. Here are the few instance where I think Kumble missed out, allowing KKR to capitalise:
Opening Batting combination: When Manish Pandey was included in the team but not sent as a opener, I was simply shocked. We knew Kallis had to stay there till atleast 10-15 overs, so it was obligatory that his other partner be a attacking , aggressive batsman, who is simply not afraid to have a go at the opposition. And Manish Pandey fits the bill perfectly.
Morgan sent ahead of Dravid: With RCB reeling at 20/3 after the dismissals of Goswami, Pandey and Virat, one would have expected Rahul Dravid to come and consolidate the situation. But Morgan was sent ahead of Dravid, who fell to a shot that wasn't really needed.
Opening Bowling Combination: If Dale Steyn was not in the team, one would have expected Kallis to open the bowling along with Praveen Kumar. But having the Number one fast bowler in the team, and not giving him the new ball is little hard to digest.RCB were defending a small total and we definitely needed wickets upfront to win this game.
As I write this post ,KKR are comfortably placed at 101/1 with loss of M. Tiwari, who played brilliantly despite pain, and I see no reason, that they should not reach the target with ease. A disappointing start to RCB's campaign.
