RCB recent domestic signings for IPL 5 includes some of the best known in domestic arena and upcoming national cricketers. One of them is Vijay Zol.
This 17 year wonder kid is from Jalna district in Marathwada region, Maharashtra and plays for under 19 team. Zol plays as an opener for Maharashtra.
Vijay Zol smashed an unbeaten 451 against Assam in a Under-19 Cooch Behar cricket match at Anant Kanhere Grounds in North Maharashtra.
Zol, opened the innings for Maharashtra, faced 467 balls and scored 451, the highest-ever individual score in Cooch Behar`s history. His humongous innings consists of 55 fours and two sixes.
The highest individual score in the prestigious Ranji Trophy stands in the name of Bhausaheb Nimbalkar, who hit 443 not out in 1948.
He broke Yuvraj Singh's record of 358.
Scored 1,607 runs in the Vijay Merchant Trophy.
Averaged (batting) 164 overall in the latest season.
Vijay Zol role model and idol has been Virender Sehwag whom he had met during a camp for india Under -16 team in Bangalore. Sehwag gifted him a bat with a simple message on it: "Dear Vijay Zol, Best Wishes. Sehwag."
He still marvels at the gift and was certain he would never play with it.
Vijay zol essential ingredients needed to play a marathon innings, was patience as the most necessary factor. "Shot selection is equally important. The margin of error is very minimal so you have to be on your toes always."
