Young India defeats West Indies in the only T-20
As the IPL Season got over, Team India left for the West indies tour.
Many seniors opting to take rest and some due to injuries, the youngsters and uncapped players got a chance to play for team India and to prove themselves in the absence of the seniors.
S.Raina became the captain to lead the team against the West Indies. The only T-20 match had been played on 4th June 2011. Indian team had couple of new faces like Dhawan. West Indies were without Gayle and Pollard as they wer not selected for the T-20.
The Indian openers gave a poor start as Dhawan's debut was short-lived falling for just 5 runs. Parthiv played a good knock of 26 runs, The Indian bating collapsed as captain Raina departed for 2. Virat Kohli made crucial 14 runs and Badrinath who was in lovely form lead the rescue act. He made a brisk 43 runs from 37 balls scoring 5 fours. Rohit Sharma played well making 26 runs and in the end Y.Pathan and Bhajji gave a perfect finish scoring 15 each in just 6 and 7 balls respectively. Captain Sammy lead the bowling from front picking up 4 wickets in his 4 overs and giving away just 16 runs. Nurse was another economical bowler for West Indies.
The West Indies began their chase slowly not able to face the swing of Praveen Kumar and the spin to Bhajji. The openers departed leaving the hosts at 22-2 as Bravo scored a slow 41 runs and Samules gave him company scoring 27 runs. Hyatt and Barnwell tried to do some damage by scoring in quick but in vain as the Indian team ended up being victorious winning by 16 runs.
