I am 42 years young die hard cricket fan (tic!!)out of which 33 have been spent in following cricket closely. I was baptized into cricket by being a vivid listener as a 9 year old when Bedi hit those 3 sixes in his knock of unbeaten 50 at Kanpur Vs New Zealand in 1976. I grew up listening to Suresh Saraiya, Balu Alganan long before the Bhogles & the Boycotts came into the scene. I was so passionate about cricket that my neighbors would eagerly await for the clock to be 8 am as I would be their “official Suresh Saraiya” reliving the previous days matches or fantasizing the days play wherein Vishvanath would square cut Malcom Marshall right from my throne in the loo!! A stutterer when I was 6, I overcame stuttering by regularly practicing commentary at home. I recall wherein at a fancy dress contest I contested as a “Stammering Commentator” I won a second place & hold your breath…I didn’t stutter a word during my three minute performance. On the personal front, I am a thorn in my Lawyer wife & 9 year old daughters lives interrupting their Saas Bahu serials by getting on to the cricket channels. When I am not watching cricket, or going thru even the club matches stats, I work for a newspaper in Bahrain.
