People should really stop getting personal.  Some people here claimed that they have spent hours doing application but he has spent weeks preparing Coffee Table book specially for RCB.  He is not a writer to express his thoughts via words, he is a photographer, his pictures will answer all f your doubt whether he is a RCB fanatic or not.
All the best Chandru…

I think what dharma chandru said was right…‘he is a photographer and not a writer’.
The one who deserves will win the contests. We can’t blame the judges decision..
Congrats dharma-chandru..i have seen your cricket stills too in flickr!!!it’s great…

Taking a dig at Dharma for whatever personal problems some people have, is downright cheap!!!
Dharma was chosen by Robin Uthappa, and i’m sure both of them havent met before. It’s a fair decision and let’s give it to the winner.
If you say that he wasnt an ‘active’ fan, so weren’t 90% of the others. Was Sanyal an active fan? Was Raghav an active fan? Was Shireen an active fan? This is a loophole in the contest and was ‘legally’ exploited by most of them.

Also, i dont think he is duty bound to mingle with the others. People are made differently and so be it. He is here to win the contest, he won it, and it’s his duty to deliver good pictures from CLT20. Why should we expect him to be the ‘personality’ that we expect him to be? Apart from his pics from SA, i dont think any of us has the rights to question other aspects of him.

@Siva: the comment that he didnt deserve a place in the 21 was derogatory. It’s an insult to EC and also to Robin Uthappa, and also to all the amazing work that Dharma has done in the past…

@Radiosandeep. Sorry if that one para sounded personal against Dharma. Sincere apologies and I have deleted that. It did not mean to be addressed to him directly. Why I got the issue of mingling with other fans was that when you are in the assignment you need to be able to work as a team and deliver. Sometimes body language conveys a lot Sandeep. You will know for yourself after the CLT20 is over. We will then discuss this over beer in Bangalore grin

Also please note that I have bolded that “I am not blaming the judges”. They have done their job perfectly. Why you are thinking otherwise? I am only questioning his selection to top 21 which I still do not agree. This is my personal opinion and I think I have the right to voice it.

Cheers

I perfectly agree with sandeep because you can only question his photographic skills or his ffc3 application and we don’t have right to speak about his personel behaviour and his character too…
so my dear friend sivaan that sentence need to be corrected..
He deserved it and he won and no more discussion on selection..

I do agree to some of your views Siva.
The judgement has been done and Dharma has made it. As you mentioned, The shortlisting of the final 21 is the key and has been the key!!! And my point was precisely that, EC’s way of shortlisting the final 21 is so bizarre.

Thats the whole point here.
Sandeep, No one here can question Dharma’s skills and no one has. When i did start the thread i made it very clear that it was not the skills and the amount of work that he has done in the past that people were questioning , but the simple point of “love for RCB”. Dharma has the skills required and his experience in the field photography is quite incredible. And the little i spoke to him during FFC3, i found him to be a humble guy. (Even if he wasn’t, i cant question that at all). All the points are taken!!! But this is a Fanatic Fan’s Challenge!! Isnt it??? You need to be a Fanatic Fan first and then a photographer!! (Having Just one of these two, wont help)

If Skills were the only thing considered and the photographer’s were only asked to put up their flickr albums, then i would have publicized it among all the photo groups that i’ve been a part of and would have made sure all brilliant ones apply irrespective of if they knew anything about RCB or even IPL for that matter. Over 6000 professional photographers would have happily applied!

This thread will not take us anywhere, until EC comes out with a message for the fans.

P.P.P.P.P.S : For what i figured out now. Just after Dharma’s posted links of his work including the Final 3 pictures taken during FFC3.
All 3 pictures taken by him to capture the spirit of RCB are using his friends alone. ( Were we told to bring friends along for the task? )

Pic 1: The guy Running with a flag.
Pic 2: The pic of 3 girls with RCB merchandize.
Pic 3: The same guy from the first picture, doing the jumping bit.

Check the Album here.
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=137329&id=100001053006422&ref=fbx_album#!/album.php?aid=12590&id=100001053006422

@Allen @Sandeep @Kunal and the other, Do check out the photo comments and Tags too in the album. ( Check for this comment: Maddy promoting RCB huh?)
How easy was it to capture the spirit of RCB with making your friends do what you want whereas 6 others were running around different corners talking and convincing people to be a part of the act.

@Dharma : You are a excellent photographer! Your work has been amazing. People here are not worried about your skills here but for love for RCB.

The who ran is not my friend ,his name is ragu & i met him on brigade road. the photographers and videographers who covered the entire event know wat exactly happened over there. im from chennai and i dont have any friends in banglore.(they have added me in facebook only yesterday or the day before) (i really have nothing to explain abt my relationship with them but yet im here to prove my point but that doesnt mean ill be replying to ur baseless allegations on me)

the event was announced few mins before the shoot how come u guys say that its a street photography event and i used my own friends?(even then there is no rule stating we cant use our friends for this event).

ok guys have u got anymore personal targetting comments(which u will claim its not personal)?

With regards

@Raghav don’t you see the disconnect in your logic? (a) you hate on Dharma for being from somewhere other than Bangalore. (b) you claim he took pics of his friends (how do you know they’re his friends? how woudl he have friends if he isn’t from Bangalore?) (c) Pradeep took a photo of a community manager and presented in his top 3. how is that worse than your alleged claim that Dharma took pics of his friends?

@Dharma. My sincere apologies on what I had written in my previous post (now it’s deleted). I had immediately trimmed some content (after posting) as I felt I should not have written them. So again my apologies for having written some content that should not have been done in public.

You might be a good photographer and I am not questioning that and also not questioning what you have done in the past. How some in the top 21 were shortlisted is the debate and that’s up to EC to answer. That’s my personal opinion like many others here.

@Nidhi - sorry about the previous post (some content).

@sandeep - again I am not questioning the judging process during the audition day. The best 3 won that day and 100% accept the verdict. It’s the shortlisting phase which is the main concern.

Cheers

@Nidhi,

a) I dont hate Dharma for any reason whatsoever, and as far as being from Bangalore is concerned its not the reason at all. Disha isn’t from Bangalore and she deserves to be up there because of the love that she has for the club. ( Not being from Bangalore is not the point of discussion here at all).
b) Please do through the comments on the FFC3 photos uploaded by Dharma on his FB page.
c) Pradeep took a pic of the CM and presented it. Yes! we all know that. He din’t get friends along with him to be a part of the act and make them do what he wanted to. Did he???

@All
THe reason i started this thread was to express what i felt over the shortlisting procedure and not to corner anyone here.
I started this thread with a feeling that the CM’s and the other fans would voice their opinion and which would help the contests in the future.

I don’t think this thread is leading anywhere. Anywhere at all. I’d decided not to comment on the thread again, but seeing Siva and Sandeep’s comment thought i should comment.
I was not here to make enemies , at the same time was here to stand up for the club/loyal fans i dearly love and support.

All the best Sherrie , Disha and Dharma.
Hoping you guys will get the best on the website,

@Raghav:
“c) Pradeep took a pic of the CM and presented it. Yes! we all know that. He din’t get friends along with him to be a part of the act and make them do what he wanted to. Did he???”

Dharma was judged purely on his photographs that day, not on his ability to create new fans for RCB. Even when i was in the process of getting selected as Podcaster, i interviewed CM Gautam, my friend and RCB player, during the pre-audition days, when we were supposed to impress with our content. Even during Mighty 14 meet-ups, i interviewed people i know. Because i was the podcaster and not a sales agent for RCB grin

Raghav, please be a sport. Let us give our suggestions to improve FFC and the club, but not target and tarnish a winner like this. let us not judge him even before he delivers his content…

@Sandeep:
I wrote the last reply to end this thread, wishing the winners all the best.
I DONT THINK YOU READ THE SENTENCES THAT FOLLOWED THE 3RD POINT.

So copy pasted the sentences that followed the 3rd point from my previous reply!

Before Script: It’s not a personal attack on ALL those who are against the system!
I truly am disheartened to see these discussions surfacing every single day since Aug 12!!!

Holy crap!

Just logged in with a bad mood and it just got worse!
Its actually literally truly absolutely heartbreaking to see so many ‘loyalists’ going against the system and questioning the ‘judging/selection’ process/criterion. You never complained when you got selected via the same procedure. Its only when you’ve lost the race, you’re here cribbing an questioning the very same system.
You win some, you lose some. Accept it, its all a part of the game. I think it is completely illogical and unethical to put question marks on the loyalty of the chosen ones before we even get a glimpse of their actual work! I agree with Sandeep, its disrespecting EC, CMs, Judges, the winners and the very contest you look forward to!

For all who are saying that Dharma got his friends to pose for photographs, If you have applied yourself, I’m sure half your votes and refernces would have been from your friends, who BTW, wouldn’t have been true RCBians either!!!

Oh yes, I am pretty sure FFC ka 4th chapter is never gonna happen!

Do you realize what? The very club which is on the top for being actively engaged with its fans, all across the country, is now facing the wrath of some, sorry to say, so called ‘loyalists’!

Nidhi, I think there is a very urgent need to address this issue offline. More on this when, and if, we meet on 28th.

Regards
Purnima

Well said Purnima and this echoes my thoughts exactly.  But before I go in let me congratulate the winners…..And I feel for Dharma Chandru for all the fire aimed at him…..he did what was asked and did it well enough to get selected…..What more can we ask of the man?

Now back to the debate at hand…..Well FFC is one of the best things in the world and you guys have no idea of how many times I dream of being the Chief blogger….it is everything for me and I look forward to the day when I’ll enter the auditions as an contestant and leave as the Chief blogger…...Just by speaking to Radio and Aneesh about their experiences makes me only want this ever more…...and I understand how precious it is…..but really crying over spilt milk isn’t going to do anything…..stop cribbing take the positives and come back next year and hope to do better…...Disha stands as an worthy example of this…..

As for the entire issue of who is more loyal and all is a little wayward I feel and plain right stupid.  Sure you need to be loyal….you can’t trade off your colors as Radio said, but then again there are different levels and there is no way to say that one is better than the other…..

RCB fan club is the best cricket fan club in the world and offers so much for it’s fans….where else would you get FFC, or M-14, etc.?  It is simply amazing and blaming them isn’t entirely right.  The management is faulted is the thread…...but I digress….no management is fully right and no selection method in the world can be fault proof…...every system has certain shortcomings…...this was seen even recently with the Sehwag-Randiv no ball issue.  You can’t blame the system for petty things such as this…..sure the selection won’t be 100% right or satisfactory…...but I have never known any selection system to be wholly right…..there will always be some shortcomings…... we just take the best we have and try making it better…...Right now the selection system is not perfect, but still it’s effective and has produced good results.  Take a look at the chiefs so far…....

It’s wrong to blame the system and the people working behind it, when in reality all they are doing is making our lives brighter…..you don’t fight them…you offer your support to them and encourage them…..

Best Regards,
Poshin David
