The much awaited IPL player auction for the 2011 season will be held on January 8 and 9 in Bangaloe, the league’s governing council has announced. The IPL 2011 player auction is likely to be on the scale of the first one, held in 2008, with teams starting largely from scratch, and will be held under rules framed in September.

The new rules governing player retention in the IPL 2011 player auction, which have been criticised by the franchises, allows a team to keep up to four players but at a steep price. The first player retained will cost a team $1.8 million against the salary cap of $9 million, regardless of the amount the player is actually paid. The second player will cost $1.3 million, the third $900,000 and the fourth $500,000.

Want Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Kohli & Ross to stay! Just coz these players can’t be replaced… There are soo may youngsters and if not one, another guys could be replaced but not in the case of the 4 i mentioned.. Kohli coz RJ has told that hez the future Captain and no need to tell why Ross should stay!

My choice would be Kohli, Uthappa, Dale Steyn and Kallis/Taylor..
Pls bid adieu to Kumble and Dravid.. They’re too old for this format. I’m not speaking about their abilities or talent, I agree they’re one among the Best in the World. Pls no for 20-20. Take Kumble as bowling coach instead!

Since the teams of Kings xi and royals are going to be out of ipl,great chance for rcb to get in players like yuvi,sanga,mahela,pathan brothers,watson[/b] and smith.Most teams will spend most of their available purse on retaining players,so if we are a bit clever we can manage to get these players at a bargain

Going with the crowd: Retain Kallis, Taylor, and two of (KP, Steyn, Kohli, Robbie, PK).
A slightly different approach: Send everyone under the hammer.

While retention gives assurance about the player’s availability, 1.8 M could rather be spent on buying the player. If at all the other teams choose to retain 4 players, that leaves the teams with only 4.5M to spend, within which they will have to pick up the best available players. The problem is when the teams start thinking in the same lines and send the entire team under the hammer.

If the rest of the teams decide to retain players, then we can safely send them under the hammer.
It will be really difficult to manage Kallis, KP, Taylor, Kohli, Robbie, Wall, White, Steyn by the other teams, while they would have more other options, but only 4.5M left with, whereas we would be having the whole of 9M to buy these gems. May sound stupid and risky, but I believe this would work (Again, provided only if the other teams choose to retain).

We don’t have an accurate death bowler to support steyn.
Unadkat is the indian bowler to look for. becoz, We don’t have a left arm pace bowler in the attack.
It adds variety to the bowling department.
except morgan,ryder all our batsmen are right handed, look for a left handed top order batsmen.

RCB should try to retain all the existing players, because without these players RCB will not be real challengers to win IPL.
