Indian Cricket Team is currently ranked no.1 Test Cricket team in the world. They have achieved this landmark and reached this rank over the years of efforts and hard work by proving themselves against all Test playing nations. Its a player’s dream to play Test matches for the country and talking about Test Cricket,  there are many big names attached to it, the 3 most fearing among them being Rahul Dravid- “The wall”,Sachin Tendulkar-“Little Master” and “Very Very Special”- V.V.S.Laxman.  These 3 have been epitome of India’s Test Team since over a decade now and they have scored heavily at both home and overseas and they are one of the reasons for India being ranked no.1 .
Sachin made his Test Debut in the year 1989, whereas Rahul and Laxman in 1996. Since then they have won many priceless matches for India which are countless. Due to their passion for the game and never ending hunger for runs they have reached great heights and broken almost all the possible records.
Now the time is soon approaching for them to retire from Cricket. When they retire, Indian Cricket will lose 3 of its biggest name in its history leaving a big hole in the team. Keeping all this in mind, the team management has already started looking towards the future by picking up young guns in the current Indian Team, so that the youngsters can grab their opportunity to gain much needed experience from these 3 big names, but the selectors should give more chance to these youngsters to play along with them so that later on the team does not face any problems.

The following are few youngsters, who can fill up the gap after they retire,

1.Talking of Suresh Raina, also known as “Sanu” made his Test debut in July 2010 where he impressed everyone by scoring a century on debut against Sri Lanka, winning hearts of a millions of people, which opened the doors for him to be a regular member of in the Indian Team, since then he has carried on himself with intense commitment in Test matches. He has the ability to carry on the middle order very well after Laxman retires he is going to be a senior middle order batsmen and will be guiding the other players.

2.Another surprise package came in form of Cheteshwar Pujara in the home series against Australia in October 2010. He got this “Golden opportunity” after Laxman was ruled out due to injury in 2nd Test in Bangalore. He fell cheaply in 1st Innings but he came back strongly in 2nd innings and made a quick fire 72 runs in 89 balls and impressed one and all in the match. This young lad has got ample of talent to showcase to the cricket world and has already sealed his birth atleast in 15 players list, right now he gets his chances only if Raina is not in form or in his absence but he can prove himself well with his good performances and feature in regular playing 11 too for India. He is a sharp fielder and takes neat catches and he can be a very good middle order prospect for India.

3.Talking of another exciting youngster is Virat Kohli who is performing exceptionally well in One-dayers and 20-20 and also has a bright future in Test matches if given a chance he will surely live upto everyones expectation. He can bat at number.3 filling the gap of Rahul Dravid. He has the ability to perform well even under pressure and I am sure he will go a long way in Test Cricket too.

4.Now coming to Yuvraj Singh, who has been kept put of Test matches as he miserably failed in plenty of opportunities given, has strong chances of making a comeback in Tests. He is performing very well in One-dayers and he just needs to apply himself well in Tests and once he comes into strong form he can be a very dangerous player in Tests.  He has to be consistent to boost selectors confidence in him and I am sure he will play for India for many years to come.

5.Murali Vijay can be termed as a dark horse of Indian Cricket. This solid young lad has already made his mark in all forms of games. He was not well known when he entered into Indian team but slowly sue to his performances he has claimed his position in the team in Test matches too and he grabs whatever opportunity that comes on his way. He is currently playing a role of makeshift opener when Gambhir gets injured but I am sure he has the ability to play permanently in playing 11.

6.Few more names that be looked into and groomed in are Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey , Subrimanyam Badrinath and Rohit Sharma. Even though they are not into the team right now, with their strong and consistent performances to impress the selectors and they can enter into Test Cricket and be excellent batting prospects for India.

Of course India has got enormous talents and many names can come out but there are only a few of them who get chances to play for the country. Indian cricket will never be the same without Sachin/Rahul/Laxman, there are no replacements for these 3 Big legends, they are world class players Indian team has produced and no one wants them to retire but this is what life and cricket is all about. I am sure Indian team will perform well even after they retire that’s what they will also hope for and Test Cricket at its best will go on forever.
