Legendary spinner and former Indian captain Anil Kumble pulled out of IPL4 as he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Tuesday, 4th January, 2011.
The former Indian leg-spinner and currently the president of Karnataka State Cricket Association cited business commitments for this decision. In a press release, Kumble said, “I wish to withdraw from the players auction for IPL IV scheduled for the 8th and 9th of January 2011 in Bangalore. I have enjoyed my stint at the IPL so far and thank all concerned for the support extended.” Apart from being the KSCA President, Kumble is also the vice chairman of the Karnataka Wildlife Board.
Kumble played all three edition of IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore and now would not be part of the 2011 IPL player auction, going to be held on 8-9 January, 2011 in Bangalore.
