It was all camaraderie at the end of a hard day’s work as the Sri Lankan players came up to congratulate Rahul Dravid after his mammoth knock saved the day for India.

He’s the one on which the team depends on to anchor the innings.. When it comes to pacing the innings, there is no person who can better Rahul.. When it comes to staying on the wicket for 2 solid day u depend on him.. When it comes to ensuring that the batsmen who is in good form at the other end is continuously fed with strike, u go to Rahul Dravid! No matter what the task, if you need a batsmen to depend upon, It’s Rahul Dravid and that probably is the reason why he is called Mr. Dependable! He delivers almost every single time smile
It’s his stroke Play, It’s his defense, It’s his technique that makes it impossible to pick his wicket. When wickets fall, when the top order fails, when you need a batsmen to bat through the innings, you go to Rahul Dravid.. His ability to stay on the wicket for as long as he wants to earns him the title of ‘The wall of Indian cricket’, Impossible to crack!

I like to call him Mr. Always Perfect, because he understand and does the right thing at the right time!

The sobriquet ‘THE WALL’ is accurate as it aptly conveys the image of a man who does not let off his wicket easliy. Left to him, he would not like to let off his wicket at all. When it comes to India’s number three mainstay, what’s in a name you argue. He’s not ‘God’, that three letter word has been associated with Sachin Tendulkar. So perhaps the reasoning goes , if you must call him something, you might as well call him ‘The Wall’.  But I personally feel that Dravid is stuck with that inglorious epithet. ‘The Wall’ be damned. Rahul Sharad Dravid truly is a hell lot more than that! grin

Kunal

Perfectly put. smile
But as Rahul said himself, these names are also created by the media so they can use it against him when he’s under scrutiny(happens too often these days)- to say,“The Wall has crumbled” and things of the sort!
But Kunal and Disha sum it all up perfectly about THE MAN smile

Rahul has been a man who has been overshadowed by more flabouyant batsmen! As Suresh menon would put it: He’s a man who perhaps played cricket in the wrong decade, a decade where batsmen like Saurav, Sachin and VVS played. I wish he got more recognition for taking India to where it is now.. i can’t imagine a test team without this man.. :(

He continues to live up to the sobriquet as always. After a commendable 177 in the first test against SL, 144 in the second test today at Kanpur,  got him to a spot on the list of highest run scorers in Tests.
As a post on Cricinfo says ” For major part of his career, Dravid has often been overshadowed by the stroke-makers around him expressing themselves. Not today.Dravid seemed impossible to dismiss today, and when his end came, it was bizarre and against the run of play”

the wall- its never easy for a enemy in a war to cross china wall
likewise its never easy to make rahul out by the opponents

Mr.Dependable- he is the man who saved many matches for our country in many critic situations
he is consistent through times and always make runs eventhough others fails

rahul is always the wall

HE IS REALLY THE WALL -THE REASON IS YOU ASK ANY BOWLER OR SEE THEM WHEN THEY SEE DRAVID OUT ,THE HAPPINESS THEY GET AND VERY IMPORTANT THING AFTER DRAVIDS WICKET FALLS,THE REMAINING ALL WILL FALL WITH IN 2 OR 3 OVERS.SO THE WALL IS THE CORRECT TERM.
DEPENDABLE- YES. HE ALWAYS PLAYS FOR TEAM UNLIKE SOME OTHERS(I DONT WANT MENTION THE NAMES) AND MINIMUM GUARANTEE OF 25 RUNS AS AVERAGE
