175 on the board ... and CSK was languishing at 37 for 3 after 9 overs requiring about 140 in 11 overs .... the match was in the bag and just waiting to be taken. It was pathetic captaincy that let them off the hook for a start. Just at the time CSK was trying to break through and get any sort of momentum going for them, what do you expect Vittori to do? All he needed to do was get in his experienced bowlers and tighten the screws on them .... And No - Who comes on to bowl?? The great Virat Kohli. Absolute pathetic nonsense. Any half a bowler would have done the trick. Virat Kohli must have a very critical review of his bowling skills - his bowling wouldnt even pass off at a club level. Observe his pitch map - majority of his deliveries are pitched well short of length.
That 9th over of Virat Kohli was certainly the turning point that CSK was yearning for. CSK scored 15 runs of that over and that breathed some life into their run chase. And after that there was no stopping of Raina, Dhoni and Co - they did well enough to just kept up with RRR. Even then it was Gayle who came in and bowled 4 overs in the most delectable manner showing others what it means to be bowling at death. Zaheer, Mithun, S-Aravind - they just didnt get it - they were feeding full tosses and half volleys and gave away 7 sixers among them in the last 5 overs. Those 24 balls that were the turning point of the game: 9th over virat’s 15 runs, 13th mithun 25 runs, 17th zaheer 20 runs and 19th Aravind 21 runs.. 81 Runs from just 24 balls - those 4 overs costing 20 runs per over. Cant expect to win after such sloppy performance in a crucial game.
This bowling performance definitely scores very high on what is called “Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory”
