Not so long back RCB was reeling under pressure having lost 3 out of its 5 games, more over it was consecutive 3 looses, having won only one match which was also their first. Team was down and out. Then RCB had a lucky break hidden in Dirk’s injury due which Mr.Mally brought something to team. Here he was an angel for RCB and more or less a daemon for other teams, a pirate from Caribbean had arrived to loot all games from opponents. More than his performance what many did not realize how well team was gelling together since his arrival, team was enjoying on the field which made all difference. This was not visible earlier as it was very new team having players from different countries and only one old player featuring young Kholi was present so it took some time. But boy when it came alive it showed its class continuously winning 7 matches, announcing itself to be favorite to win IPL.
It was the turning point, since then virat mania stated, we found season find in Aravind, Vettori got the confidence, A b de also chipped in, Zak started to show his class. One may wonder can one man bring so many changes, yes he did. He was none other than our very own CHIRSTOPER HENRY GAYLE. Since his arrival RCB started to win and how, big wins, breaking records of sorts. Opponents felt they had to play with due respect to team, one against RCB and other against Gayle. Because he not only performed but also synergized the effort of whole team de to which team looked undefeatable.
Gayle created history by smashing many records though he came almost mid tournament that is after five matches
• Top Scorer in DLF IPL 2011: 608 runs(in just 12 matches)
• - Highest Average in DLF IPL 2011(Player with more than 10 matches): 67.55
• - Highest Strike Rate in DLF IPL 2011(Player with Minimum 100 runs): 183.13
• - Highest Strike rate in an Innings: 316.66 (38 of 12 Balls vs KKR)
• - No. of Fours & Sixes in DLF IPL 2011: 100 (56+44)
• - No. of runs in Fours & Sixes out of 608: 488
• - Only player to score two centuries in one IPL
Now we feel Gayle has bounded so much with the team that we feel him to be more of Bangalorean than Caribbean, sure somewhere in depth of his heart even he will fell so. Now after such a dream run where we lost in finals, where even Gayle said next time he wants to take team one step ahead to complete his unfinished job to get RCB its maiden elusive title. In this juncture any move to put Gayle back to auction, will be like snatching baby from mother. So rightfully our Sid is saying he is doing all that he can do to retain Gayle. Go Sid we are with you. So that Gayle will be there where he ought to be there to endeavor what the team and Gayle dream of, in next season.
KUDOS….
