M.S.Dhoni who is considered as the best Captain in the Indian Cricket team history added a big stain to his captaincy by losing 4-0 to England.Previous whitewash of India was in 1959 in England.There are many reasons of this humiliating loss which of them are-
1.Overconfidence
Team India being the ODI world champions and no.1 test team were quiet overconfident about this tour.They considered this tour as ordinary and were not ready for the tour.
2.Lack of practice
Lack of practice is one of the big reasons why India lost the series.After defeating small sized West Indied team,Indian team considered it as they are ready to defeat England and team players didnt have the practice to play on green and bouncy pitches and to play the short bowlers.
3.Poor Captaincy and Team selection
M.S.D’s captaincy and team selection are also equally responsible for the series loss.On one side you could see Mahendra making bowling changes unecessarily and making poor field set ups and on the other side team selected by committee and playing XI was poor.I dont know why were Wridhiman Saha and Abhinav Mukund were selected in the team I didnt remember any of their special performance which would have lead to their inclusion in the team.R.P.Singh’s inclusion in the team in last match was more poor as they sidelined Munaf Patel who was originally included in the main team to play and R.P. was injury replacement player.I dont know why Irfan Pathan and Wasim Jaffer being ignored after good performance
4. Injury of players
You could say it as one of the reasons of loss as its main players Yuvraj Singh,Zaheer Khan,Harbhajan Singh,Virender Sehwag,Gautam Gambhir were Injured before or during the tour.But seriously saying I dont think it as an excuse for thr performance
5.Other reasons
Other reasons include poor fielding,dropping catches,poor shot selection,old habit of not playing fast and swing bowlers.
