Before the start of England tour,team India were looking quite confident of the tour and retaining their position as no.1 test team and ODI world champions.But after the awful performance by batsman and bowlers in the test teries,India lost the series 4-0.
Then it came to coloured Team India,after winning 3 consecutive practice matches,it looked like India might edge in ODI series.But before the start of ODI series,India’s bad luck started again.Its top players were ruled out of the ODI series.There name are-
1.Sachin Tendulkar-Injured foot thumb
2.Gautam Gambhir-Concussion and Visibilty problem
3.Ishant Sharma-Foot Injury
4.Rohit Sharma-Fractured finger after playing 1 ball
5.Sehwag-Out due to ear problem.
In 1st ODI, India batsman stood to the task and made a good score of 275 for England to chase.After losing both the Openers to Praveen Kumar,we all thought India might draw first International win in Tour.But to the worse rain started pouring down and play never started again denying India from win.
In 2nd ODI,due to heavy rain,play was reduced to 23 overs a side.Again batsman stood to the task and made 187 runs.But due to poor bowling performance and superb knock from Cook(80*),India lost the match and down 1-0
In 3rd ODI,a poor top order show and a superb spell from Anderson,India were 50-5.Then MSD and Jadeja played a very good knock,India somehow reached 235/7.After a good start by English openers,R.Ashwin struck thrice and Jadeja twice India again got the chance to win the ODI but again rain came to the task and reduced the target to 218 from 43 overs with England made with 3 wickets remaining.
4th ODI was more than anything to India.It was the last chance to save their pride as world champions.After a good start and poor middle order show.India were 181/4 in 42 overs.Then started the super Raina and Dhoni show which ended India making 280/5.Raina made 85 and MSD making 78*.Now it was upto bowlers to do their task and they did not disappointed taking 3 quick wickets.After a good partnership between Bell and Bopara,Bell was removed and England lost 3 wickets with Bopara remaining as a good batsman.At 44 overs,England were 238/6 and 2 run down on DL par score,Rain started and cover were brought.Indians were happy as it might be their first win but it stopped quickly and play started again and Munaf conceded 9 runs in over before the rain came again and England now 2 run ahead of par score.Play started again and India got rid of Bopara and Swann,with england needing 11 runs from 7 balls with 2 wickets remaining,Indians at Lords were happy but rain came again but this time play didnt started and match was declared as a tied with rain being the villain is series.
5th ODI is to be played on 16 and hope we win
