A.B.DeVilliers is doing a fine job behind the stumps for RCB but he will be more useful as a fielder because he is simply one of the best fielders in World cricket. A.B, Kohli, and McDonald should be used at gully/silly point/silly mid-off/point/cover/extra cover regions of the field as they are excellent fielders. This field placement will be fine if RCB bowlers can stick to bowling on the off stump to slightly away from the off stump line. The main goal is to choke the batsmen by cutting the flow of runs and inviting them to take risks, thereby giving RCB the chance of picking some wickets. If A.B is a fielder, then Arun Karthik or someone else will have to be behind the stumps. RCB has the option of going after Parthiv Patel in the auction. One thing for sure is that the KTK players will be expensive in the auction and it may be hard for RCB to get one good fast Indian bowler as well as Parthiv Patel. Let’s wait and see what happens.

I agree with your point of view maybe we could even go for Brendon McCulum..or say Tim Paine..yes Parthiv Patel will be a good buy but we did have a similar player in the form of Sreenavats Goswamy it’s time to try something different..Robin Uthappa used to do a good job too..CM Gautham maybe?

We should swap Goswami for Asad Pathan and play him as many matches as we can.He was a team-mate of Kohli in U-19 WC.He has even played for us before and has scored a half century on his debut IPL match being his professional T20 debut(Not even played for West Bengal before that match)
I think we would not be able to get Parthiv Patel.Rather think someone else.We are wasting the fielding abilities of a great fielder.

He is the best fielder in the world but not the best keeper in the world.It’s only going to be Gilly and Boucher.

@OtherFans: please read and get the logic of this post. No one is pointing at AB’s keeping abilities.

AB should be on field as a fielder, which suites him more perfectly!
Parthiv Patel is anyday better than Arun Karthik, hope we get him! But there will be lot of demand, since a very few Indian players are in auction!

I could have recommended our own CM.Gautham’s name if he had perfomed well in Ranji, he was below par, averaging just 28.00(aprox).

AB is a awesome fileder ,we need somebody else to do the wicket keeping,
in fact even dilshan can be used he as kept in few matches for sl but think so
it is not a possibility,mostly arun karthik will keep or have to look out for
parthiv in the auction ,else it will be ab

our mgmt believes in karthik(The keeper :) ).. and we have AB n one more wicket keeper..  doubt they’ll go for one more..
