There’s no pint blaming the bowlers. Yes, they bowled badly yesterday, but the bowlers will go for runs. And there is not much we can do. RCB don’t have a Steyn.
Now, what’s evident is that the level of confidence in the team is pathetically low. Yesterday the score was 39 after three overs and was 70 after 9. In other words, six overs yielded 31 runs! And its not like the team had lost 4-5 wickets and had to consolidate. Clearly, if Gayle gets out, the team struggles.
If the batting isn’t strengthened, this team will go no-where, especially given the bowling we have. So the team needs to drop Ravi Rampaul - tough as it is on him, he has been bowling well- and get in Chris Barnwell. So, it’s got to be four batsmen, three all rounders - including ABD who needs to keep wickets - and four bowlers. The two all rounders can bowl four or more overs between them.
So, the team
Pujara - or some one else, like a Rahul in his place
Zak - when he is available - or R.P.Singh
The only exception I would make is for a game against Mumbai - if it comes to that. One of the all rounders will have to make way for Murali. This is with the belief that Smith and Pollard will struggle against Murali
