A do or die game for RCB tonight.
Both teams have tasted a defeat in their last game (RCB against KXIP, RR against SRH). While RCB wants to stay alive in IPL 2014 by winning tonight’s game, RR will try to solidify its position as one of top 3 teams by winning the same.
RR has some solid Indian talents to boost up its chance, whereas RCB depends heavily on its Overseas contingent (ABD and Gayle in particular). RCB also has far too many worrying signs to look after. Consistent Top order collapse is not the least of them. Captain Kohli’s form is a cause for concern same is the case with Gayle as well. After having a pretty good start Varun Aaron has regressed (bowls way too many short pitched deliveries), less said is better about Yuvi.
Chahal has been one of the few bright spots for RCB along with return to form (albeit slowly) of ABD. Given the limited opportunities, Albie as a 4th overseas player has done OK so far. Sachin Rana, if used wisely can be a pretty good pinch hitter(yes, even for a T20 format) for RCB.
From RR’s POV, they have collectively as a team done pretty well so far except for two bad defeats they had chasing mediocre totals(against CSK in Dubai and against SRH in Ahmadabad). Watson with his all round abilities looks terrific so is forms of Rahane, Bhatia, and Faulkner.
It’s gonna be a tough game for RCB, hope they play as a unit which they are not at the moment (even mentioned by Albie in a interview after last game).
BTW, In all probability we may see RCB going with almost same XI that played last game (Personally, I would love to see one of Zol/Jakati/Abu Nechim getting a chance over Yuvi though)
