Today we offer you some tips on how to save one of the most important and probably the most neglected of all resources-water. On current trends over the next 20 years humans will use 40% more water than they do now. Agriculture accounts for over 80% of the world's water consumption. 97.5% of the earth's water is saltwater. Only 2.5% of fresh water is available. If the world's water fitted into a bucket, only one teaspoonful would be drinkable. Hence it becomes our responsibility to save the fuel of life. Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 3500 liters a month. When washing dishes by hand, don’t let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water. Turning the water off while you lather the soap can save as many as 20 liters of water each time you wash. Use one glass of water for brushing teeth instead of running the faucet. In order to reduce the usage of water during toilet flushes, put a One liter bottle filled with water inside each of the flush tanks. This displaces 1-liter volume of water in the tank and thus, saves 1 liter with every full flush. Use dual piping one pipe for drinking, bathing and utensil cleaning where other pipe will bring in rain water and treated water for toilet, lawns etc Shorten your shower by a minute or two and you’ll save up to 500 liters per month. Wash your vehicle with bucket of water and sponge than using a hose. Water your plants deeply but less frequently to encourage deep root growth and drought tolerance. Water your lawn and garden in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler to minimize evaporation. Collect the water you use for rinsing fruits and vegetables, then reuse it to water houseplants. When cleaning out fish tanks, give the nutrient-rich water to your plants. When you save water, you save money on your utility bills too. Saving water is easy for everyone to do. RCB is Game for Green…..Are You?
