Cycle..The Greenest vehicle

Hey all!! Don’t you think this time’s RCB meet up was quite unique and extra-ordinary? Unique because it was one of its kind, where RCB took the responsibility of spreading awareness on environmental issues amongst the budding managers of the country at IIM Bangalore. Along with this, there as fun and frolic all round. The cycle rally was an awesome success and a memorable event.   RCBs cycle rally indeed reminds me of Portland, Oregon which has a 2030 master bike plan that calls to spend up to $600 MILLION! Talk about a lot of money for bicycles! The more people that get out of their cars, the more livability will improve and hopefully improved air quality.   The city of Portland has already committed to spending $20 million this year for bike boulevards. Portland is taking some cool steps towards making travel via bike more safe and easy. The greenest city in America has also installed several "swales" alongside many city streets to filter street water runoff, which also double as barriers between pedestrians and auto traffic. Implementations like these are only a few of the strategies Portland has taken to make alternative travel fun and safe for even those who are new to biking in the city. Along with the title of Greenest City in America, Portland has claimed the #1 spot for most bicycle friendly city in the nation.   Don’t you think this is a very interesting concept and is being done in support of all the people in Portland. It’s a great learning and a real example for us to support and help RCB in its endeavor to reduce its carbon emissions. The time has come to act and make RCBs vision a reality. Come support RCBs green initiatives, because: RCB is game for green, Are you?

Unique, encouraging...but not sure about the awareness part...not sure how many of the RCBians were aware of the cycling thing.

Next time maybe publicize it more so that we can create awareness among a larger audience.
