A wonderful poem that we got from a young RCB Green Enthusiast, Swati. Thanks so much.
One by one, they tried to reach my peak;
But their chances of capturing it always remained bleak.
I, the mighty Himalayas remained invincible and unreachable
for long;
Until Tensing and Hillary climbed up and sang the victory
song.
And from that day onwards I‘ve had many guests visiting me;
But the grief is, there was something more than just their
glee.
Unknowingly, they committed a great sin;
By dumping garbage, plastic , metal and treating me like
a dustbin.
But this alone is not my plight;
My friends the atmosphere, land and water showcase a similar
sorrowful sight.
But the biggest sufferer will eventually be man;
As nature will pay back in the same coin, leading to wide
scale destruction.
Mercury level is rising day by day;
Rapid industrial growth isn’t the right way.
This leading to melting glaciers and floods in some areas;
Giving rise to dreadful diseases like dengue and malaria.
Torrential rains on one hand,
While sandstorms on another land.
These are the vicious effects of global warming;
Giving enough fear
and warning.
Hope mankind awakens at least now;
With united efforts to avert this great disaster and save
many living species from extinction.
