The RCB's Go Green initiative is a small step towards addressing the issue of global warming and reducing its impact on our environment. We intend to reduce our carbon foot-print & hence have started various initiatives. What we want is your active support and cooperation.

RCB is Game for Green; Are You?

These are the words of Sidhartha Mallya proudly announcing RCB’s Green Initiatives and urging fans to join Team RCB in its noble cause. Yes, RCB will be the First Green Team, in the history of cricket!

Yes we are going green, but it’s not the color of the jersey (as some of you were concerned about), but it’s the color of the mindset, it’s not the color of the poster but the color of the thought behind it, it’s not the just the decision of the management, but the votes of the fans behind it. Thank you everyone for taking the Green Pledge and supporting us in this cause.

When we decided to Go Green there were two things which we thought are critical for its success. Firstly real environmental impact reduction (we don’t believe in green wash!) and secondly fan engagement. The first one comes from a long term commitment towards reducing our carbon footprint, but we feel that the second is more important simply because without the involvement and support of all of you, the first commitment will fall flat.

Given our focus areas we started brainstorming on the possible green initiatives, given the time constraints, security and other issues that we had to take care of. It was really a novel experience as we played around with hundreds of ideas right from the fantastic ones like “Exclusive RCB Bus Shuttle” for fans to and fro Chinnaswamy stadium to the not so fantastic ones like having cheer leaders in organic natural clothes (don’t get imaginations racing, it’s the same clothes just made of organic fibre).

Finally we have come up with a list of things that we think are practically possible and also satisfy our focus areas of environmental impact reduction and fan engagement. Without wasting any more digital space (the data centers storing this space are consuming power and releasing carbon!) I will give you a small glimpse of the green initiatives including car pooling software specially for RCB fans for their travel to and fro Chinnaswamy stadium, dedicated RCB Shuttle Buses to and fro Chinnaswamy stadium, complete environment friendly waste management, environment friendly paper cups and many more.

These are small little baby steps in RCB’s Green Journey, but yes it has arrived. Our dream and goal is to have this small little baby of ours become the Captain Planet very soon in future.

The time to act is now.

I’m in for the Game for Green initiative…
but should we crack the Cracker at the stadium? when we are talking about the go green initiative why should we encourage crackers? If we stop using the crackers 1st, then we can spread the message across all venues and RCB can be roll model to them
