A 1000 tree saplings were distributed at Stonehill International School, Bangalore last month during the RCB ‘Go Green’ campaign.  A variety of tree saplings like Tebubuia rosea, Pongamia pinnata and Singapore cherry were planted. To announce this initiative taken up by the school, the students themselves created several mud pots to display the tree varieties that would be planted.     Nearly 150 saplings were planted individually by the school children during the Arts Week (18th to 21st April) who showed great enthusiasm in supporting RCB’s Go Green initiatives. A cultural event was held on 21st April to celebrate the culmination of the school's Arts Week. On that day, after the performances put up by the students, several parents too planted a sapling in the nursery.                                                                                                                                    The remaining plants will be planted in the coming days by the older school kids and the school authorities.                                                                                                                                The school has the following green events in store for the future: Among the plant saplings sown, several will be transplanted to different areas on the sprawling campus-along walkways, beside buildings, etc. The remaining will be left in their original sites to eventually grow into a mini forest!! royal challengersroyal challengers   This whole time, the school has shown great enthusiasm to ensure that most of the students took part in RCB’s Go Green initiative and also in making their campus greener.                                                                                                                             All in all, it was a day greatly enjoyed by everyone on campus, and ending with a good spell of rain in the evening (a good omen for the freshly planted saplings and a breath of fresh air for a parched Bangalore!) We look forward to many more tree planting drives as the monsoon season sets in. Come and support us! RCB is Game for Green. Are you?     royal challengers

DEAR FRIENDS,

Forests are the lungs of the Earth!
Not only do they purify the air we breathe, forests store carbon, help in maintaining global climate as well as recharge our water sources.
Forests are therefore crucial for the survival of life on this earth!

Forests are home to some of the most unique plant and animal species and support a diversity of life forms. The loss of forests has pushed many species to the brink of extinction.
Forests are life support systems for the rural poor. Almost 90% of the earth’s poverty ridden communities depend on forests for food, fibre and energy.
Forests provide free services to all life – water, soil and oxygen!
As you read this, hundreds of acres of forests are being cleared and burned. About 30 million acres of forests are cleared globally every year! Almost 50% of the logging in forests is illegal. Deforestation causes 20% of all carbon pollution causing global climate change. Water sources are drying up and tons of soil is lost due to erosion. Flash floods and landslides are causing loss of life.

The time to act is now! Join us in our effort to save forests – Sponsor a Forest!
