India’s most reputed and
prestigious business school, the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore recently
witnessed an enlightening discussion on “Going Green-for a sustainable future”,
one of the most critical issues facing
mankind today. This discussion was the flagship event of Eximius, the
Entrepreneurship Summit of IIM-Bangalore and was a solution oriented discussion
unlike other green discussions which
just reiterate the problem. The focus of the discussion was “Ecopreneurship” or
ecological entrepreneurship.

Stalwarts from a variety of domains including
government  (Mr. K Jairaj, Principal
Secretary Energy, Government of Karnataka spoke about potential for
entrepreneurship in the renewable energy sector), banking (Mr. P Khosla, Head
of Green Banking, State Bank of India spoke of Green Initiatives taken by SBI),
entrepreneurs (Mr. Harish Hande, Founder-Selco, spoke of rural electrification
through his solar lights) and Intrapreneurs (Mr. Sidhartha Mallya, Director
Royal Challengers Bangalore, spoke of the green initiatives of RCB) were part
of the discussion. The audience comprising of the brightest young minds from
across the country had an experience of the lifetime listening to the
experiences and insights of the people on the podium who had gone out of their
way from their normal roles to create a positive difference for the environment
and society.

The takeaways from the discussion
were huge. It was a great learning experience for everyone in the IIM-Bangalore
auditorium. Every speaker’s talk was of the highest quality. However the star
of the show was not the person with the largest number of grey hair, but it was
infact the youngest person on the podium, with age even less than half of any
other panelist, even less than most of the people in the audience, he was none
other than Sidhartha Mallya ! (And this feedback we got from the IIMB students
themselves). The powerful speech, the conviction in the ambitions, the
realization of stark reality and the witty replies to all pointed and twisted
questions, it was there for all to see.
You can actually see the entire speech and the subsequent questions and
answers right here

When the discussion ended, we
overheard an IIMB student telling his class mate, “We, the fans of RCB, are
lucky to have such passionate and visionary leaders, taking up issues beyond
normal unlike the other franchises”. With such exemplary support and guidance
at the top, it’s the duty and the right of every RCB fan to do their bit for
the environment.

RCB is Game for Green, Are You?
