PHASE 1 : Harsharaj Shetty 's review for rc's performance
Phase 1 ,the best one among the three, this is the time when RCB proved its potential and virtually confirmed its place in the semis. Match 1,RCB open up with a poor batting performance:it was the first match and RCB was teeming with confidence and enthusiasm to perform. With a young team kumble enters the third season with a very pleasing experience of being one of the finalists last season. But thy wer into a shock when their batting line up collapsed to the bowling of Knight riders, yet Kallis proved tht he alone can steer the team in tough times with his unbeaten 66 and put up a target of 135.Though bowlers tried their best to restrict Riders, thy had little success by gettin three wickets and takin the Knight riders' chase to the 19th over.Though RCB lost it,they had showed tht thy wer not gonna face defeat easily this season. Match 2,Kallis classic knocks out KXIP:this was a big one with 400 odd runs scored on RCB's home pitch from two innings.Punjab winning the toss elected to bat and their magnificient opening partnership of 129 runs in 15 overs helped them to put up a huge target of 203.when all thought match was towards punjab taking into account poor batting performance of RCB last match,a tall south african and a powerful Indian served the ultimate taste of T20 .Kallis' unbeaten 89 and Robin Uthappa's slam bang 51 from 21 balls took RCB to 204 with ease and a ball and a over to spare.Kallis showed tht he is gonna score big this time with consecutive unbeaten above 50 knocks on the other hand Uthappa proved his real talent of sending the ball out of the stadium.and with this magnificient knock RCB opened its account with two points Match 3,PK's hat-trick does the trick:At the end of RCB's third match one could tell tht the team was on a perfection run with its bowlers coming out in flying colours by restricting Rajasthan to a season's low score of 92.All thanks to incredible bowling by PK with a superb Hat-trick and good bowling back up by Kumble and Kallis. The Bangalore batsmen came out to complete the last rites of the night getting the required 93 runs without any discomfort. In came the Bangalore openers who reached the target in the 11th over.Manish Pandey and Jacques Kallis had no hiccups along the way. Kallis, who is leading the race to the Orange Cap, consolidated his position on top with a cool unbeaten(third time in a row) 44 and Pandey delivered good with 42 off 30 balls promising good performance this season. This was the biggest win of IPL 2010 and boosted RCB to the top of the points table. Match 4,Kallis steers RCB thru once again:Playing at home, Sachin Tendulkar’s Mumbai Indians had got off to a good start , But just when they were looking to take control of the innings, they lost Saurabh Tiwary to a googly by the wily Anil Kumble and were in trouble at 71 for 3,yet RCB had no time for relief as the master was still at crease.this relief was brought in by the most under rated bowler of RCB Vinay Kumar with a Game changing over snatching three wickets in a span of 5 balls getting rid of the master blaster in the process. After this Mumbai hardly recovered and managed to put up a decent 152 target. With Kallis at his utmost best and pandey showing signs of improvement RCB had a solid start with the duo scoring a opening partnership of 85 runs in 9 overs.after pandey got out for 40 in came blitzkreig batsman Robin who had a small task cutout of reaching the target with in form kallis.his short cameo and a 17 run backup from Kohli for Kallis' four in a row(OMG) unbeaten 66 cruised RCB into a easy win and helped regain the No.1 position on the table. Match 5,The Uthappian Blast:This match was Robin all the way with Kallis getting out for the first time in the season.Though RCB started off with a decent run rate the loss of 3 wickets for 63 questioned a competitive target. But the bengaluru blaster Uthappa literally banged the Super kings bowlers to all parts of the stadium. From a mediocre 119 for 5 in the 17th over to 171 at the end showed it was the lone hand played by Uthappa that took the Challengers to the imposing, and ultimately match-winning, score. The Bangalore boy hit six sixes, including three consecutive ones exhibiting power hitting ,one thing RCB desperately needed. As the chase of kings started it was Bangaloreans show once again with Vinay kumar clinching 4 wickets and the real hero Kumble getting one wicket and giving out a mere 15 runs of his 4 over spell. This Classy win took RCB to the top once again. Match 6,RCB deviate from winning spree:Much was talked abt this match between the two best of the season, but RCB stumbled a bit and faced a 17 run defeat against Delhi.with a slam bang opening by warner and good down the order batting by AB and Jadhav Delhi managed a tough to chase target of 184 with RCB bowlers getting very less opportunity to shine. But the strong batting line up of RCB failed to deliver when needed with only Pandey and Kohli scoring decent 30 knocks.Regular wickets in a span of just 20 runs turned the game away from RCB and Kohli's valiant effort to chase was let down with Morgan getting out for 17 and Boucher for a disappointing 1 with RCB ending up with 156 at the end of 20 overs. This loss was a wake up call for RCB's middle order to perform. Match 7,Played after a 5 day gap and lost:Opting to bat first,RCB started off decently with kallis steering RCB to 117 with a gritty knock of 53.But when the time had arrived for Kallis to start blasting a unfortunate mix up with new comer KP resulted in his exit, yet a small cameo from the duo of KP and cameron white helped RCB to fight for a target of 162.RCB confident of defending their target were into a big shock with a uncharacteristically aggressive knock of 78 from Murali Vijay with six huge sixes off RCB's bowlers spell.THis backed up by a unbeaten 40 run knock of raina comfortably pushed Chennai off their losing streak to a win with 5 wickets to spare. Phase 1 was like a Indian Road drive for RCB with downs and ups,but with two consecutive losses Kumble had started all the calculations required to get back into winning streak.at the end of Phase 1 RCB had one thing to feel happy and tht was their incredible Net run rate all thanks to four consecutive wins and this meant RCB was one of the main contenders for semis. This was my review my style PS:Sorry for the lengthy review ,cant stop when talking about RCB,cheers...
