NetRunrate, the word that was revolving around all the RCB fans on 17 of march when they lost to Mumbai Indians by 57 runs. Fortunately RCB had a good NRR and they were through to the semifinals. From the beginning RCB had a lot of confidence facing the semifinal as it was to be in Bangalore. After the match against MI there confidence was a bit low as they had to play MI in the semis. The hope they had that they would play under the bangalore crows raised their confidence again. But when the veue was changed to Navi Mumbai, it came like a blistering buzz to the RCB team and fans. This reduced RCB's confidence further. But with the lights of RD, KP, AK and our Young guns Robin and Virat, RCB looked stronger on paper but all it was to be stronger on the day was that our guns had to fire which didnt happen on the big day.
RCB lost the toss and had to field and that was a good toss to lose as RCB likes to chase. RCb got off to a great start when they got Shikhar and Sachin out very early. But then they got carried away taking Ambati Rayadu a bit lightly and he formed the back-bone of the MI innings earlier on. And then Kieron Pollard who was at his destructive best entered the party and took the score to 184. RCB's chase started with a new opening stand.. RD and Kallis which many people thought was good especially seeing RD at the top. RD and Kallis, both highly experienced in the International Arena. But Kallis had a flop show in the big match and RD was going good. When Uthappa started hitting MI bowlers out of the park, it seemed like RCB would win. But RU and RD's dismissal in the same over ended it all and they managed to reach 149 and now out of the tournament and they had a last match with DC for the place in champions trophy. The notable points in the match were Vinay's inability to bowl in the debt overs and RD's promotion to the top. RD's promotion was a very good move but unfortunately it didnt paid off.
Against DC on the playoff for a place in champions's trophy.. DC's confidence was lower than RCB as they have put a very bad perfomance with the bad against CSK in Semis. This showed off when they started their innings and wickets kept coming thanks to the good bowling by RCB. Vinay, Anil were all good. Nayan Doshi was very good in this match. He gave flight and turn to the ball which made DC's batting still harder. They managed just 82. Then Kallis started very slowly maybe he was very keen for the orange cap scroing 19 off 32 balls but just managing to beat sachin by 2 runs. Then KP and RD showed their class and nicely placed their innings and took RCB to victory with ease by 9 wickets.
This made RCB to qualify for the Champions trophy which will be held at South Africa later this year. And as Kumble said RCB is stronger especially in South African conditions. Lets hope that RCB will do well there...
finally, RCB - "Ready" for the "Champions" "Battle" GO RCB GO!!
