The first phase was a combination of wins and losses for RCB as they tried different combinations.

BATTING:

Kallis performed extremely well during this phase,he was the standout performer.Kallis opening partner Pandey also performed well in this phase he gave good starts against Kxip,RR,MI,DD.Uthappa,Kohli were equally awesome during this phase.Though I fell that Uthappas right slot is at no.4 and kohli at no.5.The team did not use Dravid as a batsmen during this phase,he batted so late or did not bat at all(Dravids right slot is no.3)

BOWLING:

On the bowling front the team had a mixed phase.Kumble was brilliant as usual.Steyn,Kallis,Vinay kumar were good,Praveen kumar(except against RR and KKR) was a little inconsistent.The bowling was brilliant against RR,MI,Csk(23rd march),but were bad especially against Kxip,DD.

FIELDING:

They dropped some crucial catches in the first two games, especially against Kxip.But in the rest of the games the fielding was good.Virat,Manish&Dravid were brilliant in the field.

Strategy:

-Kallis playing the anchor role went down well.

-Steyn was awesome in controlling hard hitting batsmen.

-Sending Dravid at no.3 would have helped the team .

-The team might have benefitted with Roelof van der merwe in place of morgan(As he is the ideal partner for Kumble in the spin department,he is a good batsmen too).

The team had a quite phase exactly opposite to the one they had in phase1.They became an inconsistent team winning one and losing the other.The bat was doing the talk most of the times,while the bowlers were off color.The bowlers let the team down as the batsmen were left so much to do every time they went out to bat.The team needs to find a good local spin bowling partner for kumble.Rcb lost almost two to three matches that they should have won.The team combination was also one of the reasons as it failed to find the correct combination.The team performed much below the expectations.It can be said that the team's strong net runrate helped the team much more to reach the semis.

Semi-finals: RCB came into this match after the thrashing defeat at the hands of MI in their final group match. They also suffered a psychological blow, when the semi-finals were shifted from Bangalore to Mumbai.But they came as tigers and controlled the proceedings of the match for the first 15 overs.Though MI got a good start,RCB picked up the wickets at regular intervals and were in control of the match till the 15th over.The first ball of the 16th over started the momentum shift, as MI managed 77 runs in the last 5 overs, probably 20 runs extra.RCB started the chase well and were on course with the run rate but once they lost Uthappa, everything started to fell apart as all the other batsmen fell around and by the end of 15th over RCB lost seven wickets and from there it was going to be a heavy task as RCB lost by 35 runs. 3rd -4th place off: Any RCB fan would wish to see the team in the final, but this match has a lot of stake as the winner of this match gets a champions league spot.The match was in RCB’s hand right from the moment DC lost 3 wickets in 20 balls and the wicket of Andrew Symonds in the first ball after the powerplay.The bowlers had a fantastic outing led by our captain Anil Kumble and bowled out DC for 82.RCB need a smooth start and that was exactly provided by Dravid .He was well supported by Kallis and Pietersen as RCB chased the total in 83 balls,and got the much important Champions league spot for the second year in the running.
